Can't see enough to click start

I can't start the game because the whole window does not appear.

From Steam I push play
next play civ v
next direct x 10&11
this next steps either takes a very long time or it never completes.
If the next window comes up i can't see below "downloads not rated by the"

So I can't start.

One time it started so I know there is a star button below.

Any ideas?

Resolution set at 1920 1200

Did you try setting a lower resolution in one of the .ini files (My Documents\My Games\Civ5)?

I changed it to 1680X1050 under graphics settings DX11 There was no change in how much of the window I can see,

What difference does it make if you play DX 11 or 9?

I just tried it in DX 9 and even tho the ini says the 1920 X 1200 I can see the whole window.

I don't understand it but at least I can play.

This problem is back again after Steam updated.

Last time I was able to play in clunky DX9. Then for a while after installing a new HD and reinstalling Win 7 everything worked in DX 11. Sure looked better in DX 11.

Anyway the problem is back

What advice is available?

Is this the best place to ask or should I be trying Steam?

It's a Civ5 issue, not a steam issue, so the questions belong probably more to this forum.

At the problem...*sigh* no real idea .
Are you playing with fullscreen or in windowed mode?

It looks like dx11 is running in windowed mode, but set at such a high res that it's unable to fit in that tiny box. Go to one of the .ini files(maybe the dx11 one) and see if there is an option for playing in windowed mode an turn it off.

Reinstalled windows and everything else and now I'm back to not being able to play in DX11.

I don't know what fixed it last time. I think it just went away

Found a fix for this issue on the 2k forum. Finally I don´t have to play in windowed mode anymore.

Here´s the fix:

1. Create a shortcut for the executable for the version of the game you want to run DX9 or DX11

2.Right click the shortcut and choose properties. Click the 'Compatibility' tab.

3. Under where it says 'Settings' check the last box where it says 'Disable display scaling on high dpi settings' Click OK or Apply. Enjoy.

Your video card has a 32 bit driver, but you are running 64 bit windows. Is there a 64 bit video driver? Or you have to run it in compatability mode, which may avoid the conflict?
