My girlfriend and I have been playing Civ IV BTS fairly inconsistently online. We are both accessing the internet via my Netgear WGT624 router. We cannot see each other on the LAN lobby and I am getting ready to kill myself. She is running Vista and I am running XP. We have been able to play via Hamachi before.

What I have done -
Reserved 192.168.1.2 for my computer
Reserved 192.168.1.104 for her computer
Forwarded port 2056-2056 to my computer
Forwarded port 2057-2057 to her computer
Changer her CivIV.ini connection port to 2057 in My Games\BTS
Set my computer to be the default DMZ server.
Disabled SPI firewall
Turned off Windows Firewall on my computer and hers.

Should my 2056 port be detectable online via http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/? Because it is still closed. I can ping my computer and her computer from my own and same with her computer. She seems to be able to access my shared documents from her computer but possibly not vice versa.

For God's sake, help me hahaha. Thanks!

Karsten

Dont bother with the LAN lobby.
Just do direct IP.
1 player needs to host and give his IP to the other.
On the hosting machine do...
Start > run > cmd > ipconfig >enter
You should see a line that reads IP address..... 192.168.1.X or 192.168.0.X
Just give that number to other player(s) and they can join in with direct IP.

I use it for LAN and internet play....

Although this problem seems to have been solved already, you may also want to check your Anti-Virus program and see if it's blocking any traffic.
