Small question, what do you do when your capital city has at the beginning very poor production? Do you restart the game? Do you have some hints how to manage this situation?

In my game now I have only 2 easy accesible fields with some production: 2F:2P ; 1F:2P. In third ring one field with hill 1F:2P and secound one with 1F:3P. Only 2 rainforest and 1 forest to chopp. Only hill field can be improved to increase the production. I am not sure to continue this game.

What do you think?

I mean, you just have to be more conscious about your options. For example, if I have very few hills in a city, I'm much less likely to want to place a campus on a hill, even if it was the best spot for it. And it means you're a little faster at making sure you mine a hill to get the extra production, or even something like making sure that you get the tech to boost mines or build lumbermills even sooner than you would otherwise.

Another option is using an internal trade routes to gain a little extra production, or sometimes you get lucky and find a few horse or iron tiles nearby that can be used for production boosts that are hidden at the start.

It's a challenge, but there are ways.

Scout with your warrior and move your initial settler to where the grass is greener. You'll use one, two or even three turns on moving but you may find much more productive land. Nobody makes you settle turn 0. If you find something better, you'll catch up quickly, if not, well the start was doomed to be slow anyway. As for playing it out, it is entirely up to you. Reroll or not. Although if you're up to a bit of a bigger challenge, you can continue and see, if you can play this map and take every little advantage it offers.

It would help if you posted your game, a screenshot or save. personally I hate low production starts and playing them out is to me advanced masochism. lack of forest/wood is never a problem, but lack of hills kills me. I would probably just discard a map where my capital only has one hill. the chance for that to happen is atronomically low anyway, probably even lower than your capital not having a luxury.

I feel like I can deal with all starts: early barbarians, early rush from the AI, lack of food, lack of luxes, lack of strategics, lack of adjacency, but lack of hills? nah, thank you :D

honestly, moving rarely makes a difference in these kinds of situations. when the area around your capital is pure grassland or desert without hills, you can move for 3 turns and still not have very many hills. also, there is a point where moving around just isn't mathematically valuable. you're better of settling and then rushing a settler.
