Capital Punishment?

Its important to know what crime the crimal have done. If its a light offense I think they should be punished to the licking. Because in this world their are people who NEED to steel to get something to eat and I think those people shouldnt be punished but be helped so they dont have to steal. The same with drug addicts, dont punish these people because they arnt criminals but sick people.
But the other side of the story is the Hard line criminals. They should be punished a lot harder. And the prisons should be made less attractive and the punishment harder so that they think twice before they do the crime. About the costs of the prissons thats easy, we outside work our buds off to earn a living so should those inmates. Let them do HARD=TIME and make stuff in side a prison or put them in mines or the goverment should think something up so the prisons can make money for theirselfs.

Sex offenders is a easier issue, like I told before. (see my earlier forum).

For young criminals its much easier put them in the army or a other kind of tuff school system. So that they learn to respect other people and so they learn a job while they are doing their punishment.

This explains some of the deficiancies of the Dutch armed forces. The USA armed forces are not used as a repository for delinquents.
 
during the vietnam war, if u commited a felony, a smaller crime, u could choose between jail and the army, am i right?

Well, perhaps you would like it, but I would NOT enjoy getting butt-raped in prison. I would much rather choose to be in the army.
 
#1- It costs more to execute a prisoner then to keep him in jail for the rest of his life. This is because of the legthy appeals process that comes about after a guilty verdict. Now my stats are little rough and old, but , I think the rule of thumb for the death penalty (in America) is that it takes 10 years and 10 million to execute someone.

#2- No country that has abbolished the death penalty has had a significant increase in murder rates. This is an old stat, (from a Report done by the British Select Commitee on Capital Punishment In the 1940s) They found that most countries experienced a drop in the murder rate

When I was pro-DP, I shot these arguments down, and I stand by the refutations I used then. Go hunting through the ancient moldy tomes of yore to find the threads. It was great reading. Take especial note of 'Hell reports temperature -50C' or something like that.

I am against the DP on simple moral grounds. Taking human life for any reason short of self-defense or defense of others is just plain wrong, and an apprehended murderer can't threaten anyone. If they escape and kill again, well, they have just beaten odds that make the lottery look like a sure bet.

This horse too, is ready for the dog food cannery and the glue factory.

To say that killing someone is wrong is correct but by killing the killer you have just contradicted what you said.

I feel the complete opposite. I believe that once a person commits a certain crime and are convicted, they give up all their human right. Crimes like Rape and Murder deserve death. For the 3 strikes laws, they shouldn't receive life in prison they should receive death. Unless they are willing to do hard labor. I don't like the arguments that Capitol Punishment is cruel and unusual, of course it is. Did they consider if they were being cruel and unusual to their victims. I believe unless chosen otherwise, all prisoners when they are executed should be shot in the back of the head. It's the quickest and most painless way to kill them.

Shaolin, there are many problems with capital punishment in America. For one thing, there are far more blacks executed than whites. The death penalty is racist and needs to be put on hold until this problem can be fixed.
Recent studies have concluded that the race of the VICTIM is very inmportant in decided whether or not capital punishment is given. For example, there has been only 1 CASE in the history of the U.S. of a white man being executed for the murder of black person, and that was for a brutal rape-murder.
It has already been stated here but it is more expensive to execute someone then keep them in prison for life due to the lengthy (and necessary) appeals process.
It has been proven that the death penalty is not effective as a deterrent; it has had no effect on the murder rate.
And if you really wanted to punish someone, wouldn't you want them to suffer in our atrocious prisons for life rather than kill them painlessly?

ANY talk about execution costing too much should be put to rest RIGHT NOW. Stabbing don't cost a damn thing. As for making it painless, who cares? They gone die they gone die. Screw em. Hell, make me a "stabbing chair" and strap fools in, I'll make a pay-per-view out of it. Make the government some extra cash while we at it. STAB STAB STAB! Stethoscope... Still got a heartbeat! STAB STAB STAB! Okay, he gone.
 
Am not religious so therefore I pressure life too much to ever be supportive of the death penalty. If I became religious I might reconsider, because then they would just go to haven or hell or whatever I would believe in and killing people would not be so final and probably sanction by some passage in my holy book.

But am not religious and there for value everyone right to life too much to accept the death penalty.

(Then that it’s more costly, more about revenge then penalty, and a chance of killing someone innocent does not speak in it’s favour.)
