Ultimately of course once Santiago is sufficiently fat and weak, the rest of the Spartans will carve her up.

You're probably right
. However, once Santiago's gone, someone could probably take her place as the new able leader of the Spartan Federation. If that leader gets captured again however, the cycle would eventually repeat.

And it could presumably end up empowering the Spartan war machine rather than weakening it. Let fat Santiago be an example to those Spartans who allow themselves to be captured by their opponents in the field of battle. I'm pretty sure this would strengthen the resolve of any Spartan in the heat of battle.
