I just had a beast master capture Acheron, but since it can't move all it could do is sit outside the city. Firstly I was wondering if if I use assassins to kill everyone else in the city will Acheron stay in the city rather than be moved to tile outside, and second can I use a Obsidian Gate to move it, or will it having no movement points make it always at the end of it's turn and thus never able to use the gate?

No, even if you kill everyone else in the city, he'll still be moved to the tile outside. What you've got to do in order to move him is raze the city and build a new one where he stands.

I've also seen some suggestions saying to feed him alot of weak units such as warriors or skeletons, but you have to get him on the same turn before the barbs give him some other promotion, that way when you do grab him with an unit with the subdue animals/beasts promotion, you can give him the mobility promotion.

In theory using mutate on him could work as he is a living unit, but you're relying on chance there, so unless you're willing to make a save and repeatedly go back until the mutate gives him a mobility promotion, it wouldn't be worth the chance that he would get a bad mutation.

I tried to get him using an unit with subdue animals once, but ended up just killing him rather than capturing him.

Or you just feed him some units (warriors / scouts and the like) as sacrificial offering to wake him first. :D And then beat him up with your Beastmaster.

With the EP you can then give him Mobility 1 (provided you have horseback-riding which you are likely to have if you can field Beastmasters anyways) and move him around or gate him. Otherwise you can also use the trojan horse (rabbit).

Is quite fun if done not so late. (also catching him works with order High-Priests or Druids and other high Priests / Divine heroes with Channeling 3 and Command 3/4 if you are a bit lucky.)

ninja'd you lol :) except for the part about the trojan horse.

Can't mutate him though, since he is Immune to Magic

oh yea, forgot about that. It would still not be worth trying because of the sheer randomness and the chance that you will get a bad mutation.

I'm not sure why I failed to capture him using the subdue beasts because I believe I heard someone say that they used it to capture him. I was Infernals at that time though, but doubt that had anything to do with failing to capture him.

Stick him in the trojan horse :)

Did the unit that tried capturing him have hidden nationality up? That prevents capture.

no, I was using some hunters or beastmasters or something (I forget, maybe it was rangers) to capture him. As far as HN units, I don't really remember for sure.

I'll have to do another try at Acheron.

Hunters and Rangers only have "subdue animal," which doesn't work on "beasts" like Ascheron. Only Beastmasters habe "subdue beast."

Not true. After researching 'Animal Mastery', any Recon type unit with Subdue Animal and Hero (I think there's another requirement too) can learn Subdue Beast.

Wyrmhero

yea, that's probably why it didn't work, I had the wrong promotion on the unit trying to capture acheron.

As I mentioned above, if he is in a coastal city you can haul him around in a boat. He can still throw meteors, so think of it as an Arcane Barge on steroids.

As I've often pointed out, he won't be in the city once you capture him; a captured unit is moved to the tile from which it was attacked.

(Hmm...I guess you could try capturing him with an amphibious assault, so he would be move onto the boat's tile. The amphibious assault penalty could make this harder though.)

Well when I captured him he had 3 exp so All I had to do was give him mobility. That was less complicated than I though it would be. I was looking forward to actually getting use out of my Trojan horse.

yea, the key to getting him is to get a really big stack. I eventually wore him down with catapults and skeletons (swordsmen I think, I was Infernals at that time), but it took a while because the barbs kept healing him up with sirona.

Surprisingly, catapults when used in large numbers are actually pretty effective on Acheron once you get the city defense down.

To get him on the boat, you need to raze the City where he was originally. Then you build a new city on the square where you made the attack. Then you can bring in a boat to pick him up.
