Cheers Civ'ers.

I'm presenting to you my Caribbean map, first step, of my "hopefully" more complete pirate war in the caribbean pack :)

From the panama to the jamaican coast, or from cuba to the mountains of colombia, fight your way to the victory, discover the 7 famous flibuster city states and deal (either way !) with them.

Find the mod in the ingame mod browser filtering on "caribbean" , or here is a direct download link (to be placed in C:\Users\XXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS)

Players : 8
Spawn : Random
Cities-states : 7
Ressources : Random
Win condition : all but time



feedbacks are indeed welcome, and I hope you'll have fun on that special landscape
 
nice, maybe add a port royal scenario or something like that later :) Good job!
 
Looks fantastic, and you actually made the map I was thinking of making myself...and to a much better standard then I could ever do.

However no resources? I presume next version they are coming and also your placement of Tortuga is off, Tortuga is just above Haiti where you have placed the city state of Turtle Island. I know both are the same, with Tortuga meaning turtle in Spanish. However seen as you are a fellow pirate fan, I am going to guess that you want the infamous pirate port of Tortuga in the correct place. You should just flip the two around as the Tortuga you have in should be Turtle Island, and same visa versa.

Regardless of those two little things I can not wait for this to have resources included and for you to get those pirates made! Great job so far man!
 
Well I just checked, and you're right about tortuga / turtle island, I'll make the flip when I'm back home :)

Anyway about the ressources at the moment they're random (defined by the game at start), I'm not sure it would be a good idea to place them manually as it could hurt the play gameplay wise.

Any idea how I could balance ressources so I don't have bananas every 2 hex? :blush:
 
Go to the mod tab in the game, and filter on "caribbean", then download it, and install it ingame.
 
V2 is now out, I just made a little change so technology is limited (at the end) to frigates, arquebus, canon...

IF you load the scenario you can't go any further technology wise.

I wanted to make the game start around the beggining, but after some play-test it was quite boring, research took forever and cities were ininterresting to build.

I'll might try to balance that out later on, when I'm more confortable (and more documented) with the XML files :)

What's wrong with bananas ;). Also didn't realise it was random, only looked at it in the map editor originally. Yeah playing it now am enjoying.

Also maybe to balance it you could have perhaps mother state shipments of resources or something. Not sure how you could do that but tis an idea.
 
Chak_ can I ask what changes have been made from v2 to v3? Like I haven't played it yet, just want an official list of changes.
 
Well actually nothing new, it's more of a rollback than anything.

I played it more and research is bugged.

When you have no new tech to search, it keeps asking you to select a technology to research, which block the turn, and you can't play anymore.

So I removed technology limitation while trying to find a new way to limit technology.

It sucks because the ability to disable research come from firaxis, but it seems to be bugged at the moment
