Latest Map (Warning: Large filesize. Size is large, too. It will not fit into a single window.)

I haven't really taken much attention to my "mandate" of Japanatican Cartographer (which is honestly a joke, but it gives me a sense of self-esteem and value). But when I made my first map in the name of the Demogame (due to complications of vacations since the elections), I started asking myself what the public wanted. I think I could do better if I had the input of the public.

Do you want a grid on? Do you want me to put nation stats, such as gold and techs? Any thing you would recommend to me for cosmetic purposes that will make my "job" better?

I'm pretty sure that this all seems trivial in light of the elections, but if I plan to release a new map with each coming turnchat, I'd like each one to be in the best interests.

Technically, my job was approved by Chieftess.

Wrong forum dude ;).

I would say: no overlay over the nations (maybe just a thick border?) Also, perhaps taking out the province of Zarnia, at least for now. Having the grid on would also help for city layout and such. Maybe (unless it's too much work), like someone else did here in the demogame, put a border around the tile that have strategic and luxury resources to help spot them. (ie; a blue square around iron, and, say, green squares around gems and luxuries). Hope this helps. :)

Yes, it does help :D Thanks.

In Civ3 Demogame V: Polls. Just post in the needed things thread to have this thread moved by one of our freindly moderators :).

I want you to spell iroquois correctly :)

Colours are purdy.

:crazyeye: Sorry...what a stupid typo :( While I'm at it, can anyone tell me the proper term to refer to the Iroquois by their land? Like American -> America; Iroquois -> ???

I'm to scared to post there :p I'm just a humble citizen. But if you insist, you can post in Needed Things yourself...

EDIT: I got over my fears and posted it myself ;)

There is nothing to be scared to post there, Everyone does that when they make a minor mistake or want a minor change to the thread title :).

I think its fine. I don't know how to explain it any more than that. Just do what your doins as far as I see. Oh, minus the typos.

Being a bit nitpicky... More Up-To-Date, please.

From what it looks like, this map used 1450 BC info. We've explored a little bit more of the frontier, and founded a city near Antium over the course of 8 turns.

Naming of features, well... that's something I'll have to look into if I'm elected as Domestic, i.e. who gets the rights? Should we Poll? Etc.

MSTK,

It's great that you got started on the maps.

I think it would be great if in the maps/screenshots a bit of story telling (to reflect what's happened in the turnchat) was included so you could follow the game from this thread and be updated really quickly. It was done in DG4 a couple of times, and IMHO that was great.

The graphics look fine to me, just as they are

great map MSTK, but to give you feedback, format of map and fontsd are both excellent.
However, having borders so we could see the land would make the map look prettier.
It would also be nice to get some names on landmarks as well, but we need to do that with the governor.

Very good map MSTK. Neat and prettiful. Instead of landmarks, we should have our provinces divided up for now.

MSTK, that's a great map, well done. The only thing that I can think of is that the colour shading of regions makes the terrain harder to identify, perhaps consider only including the border.

By the way the noun and the adjective are the same for the Iroquois according to Civ3Edit, so Iroquois -> Iroquois.

Great Map.
Just a few minor adjustments will provide a little more information.
* Use a special Icon for a city.
* Refrain from coloring land that is outside cultural borders.
* I've spotted some colorings not exactly within the lines (Furuyama sea). If you draw lines accross cultural borders in a seperate layer and then fill it; you've overcome tht problem.

I'm amazed what a color-blind person like yourself can do with colorings. I'm not colorblind BTW.

Good work, MSTK. If I can, I'd likr to make some recommendations.

1. I like the fonts. Nothing wrong there.
2. I like like the colors for the nations, although the blue in between the Japanatica territories is a bit confusing. If you could lighten up on the transparency of those colors, then seeing the terrain below them would be easier.
3. Naming of terrain features is the responsibility of the Governor of the Province. Check with the Governor by posting in his thread for official terrain feature names. Once you get these, small black fonts will work.
4. I would like to see the grid also. It will aid you in the line drawing too.

Other than this, I really like it. Are you finally gone to tell us what the M/S/T/K stands for? :)

Rik: I got the colors by using the little dropper tool for the Color Disk of one of their units. And if none of their units are visible, I pick the brightest color from their borders.
Cyc: MSTK is just some letters that I use for a lot of sites. Nothing special...I like to say that it stands for MiSTaKe.

Thanks for the tips. I'll be sure to update the map to the peoples' liking next turnchat.
