Caveman 2 Cosmos

Did anyone saw web game named Seedship?
It is about AI flying spaceship for search of good planet for survivors.

One of interesting results is ending as stone age civilization on perfectly habitable planet.
It could be made into once per game event, when alien apocalypse survivors land somewhere on Earth.

Maybe numerous pods were sent out all over the new planet, each to be led by an immortal clone of a famous leader from Earth's history...

Possibly, your survivor colony may split up and settle in multiple places too, when certain conditions are met.

Also it would explain why you can't lose techs in Civilization and why everyone is maximizing research output.

Those seedships may as well carry outcasts far away like in Banished (medieval era village simulation/strategy game) too.
Or someone wanted to start new civilization.

By time home civilization finds you, they decided to engage Prime Directive and watch passively how you fare as leader until you create interstellar civilization.

Hey, guys! It's been a while since I played this mod, and I've noticed something annoying while trying to update it via the SVN, it's taking forever to download anything.
Does anyone know why that's a problem?
I mean, I'm talking about speeds that make Dial-Up look fast as lightning. :P

I'm also so far out of touch I don't know if there's a new way to download the SVN or not.
And then I hear things about the newer versions of the game being completely broken.
I'm really lost, so if you all could be patient and explain what I should download, please do so.

Either TortoiseSVN is all broken and doesn't want to ever update this mod, or something else is making the download speed be slower than a dial-up back in 1983. :)

SourceForge has problems right now. In fact, they have been having problems for a few weeks now. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Another possibility is an old TortoiseSVN version (although that hasn't been updated since August 2017). If your version is older, you should update.

There are some big AI problems right now, so it might be better to use an older SVN version now. See https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/which-version-now.631006/

Ah. THank you. I updated the TortoiseSVN, and still have the slow down, so I'll worry about that later.
I will try to get the SVN revision downloaded somehow. I wish there was another way to get it downloaded though. :(

I just installed the latest version, but i'm not sure i did it correctly - the game loads fine, but when i go to the "about this build" section it states that my build is 3.1.9 - which was a version released approximately four years ago. Did i mess up the installation, has the "about this build" section not been updated, or is it something else?

Currently, I've got the folder for Caveman2Cosmos_v38_1 sitting in my SteamLibrary > steamapps > common > Sid Meir's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword > Mods folder, which i where i thought the folder was supposed to be extracted to.

"about this build" is information about BTS version.
Also mod folder name must be Caveman2Cosmos.

Changed the folder name - how will i be able to tell at a quick glance whether the version i have is the newest version or an older version?

Look at flag when you start game on scenario or generated map.

If you hover your mouse of your Civs flag on the bottom right, you'll see a popup showing the Caveman2Cosmos version number.

The folder has to be named Caveman2Cosmos. When you extract it, if it creates a folder with another name, rename it to Caveman2Cosmos.

Time for my annual complaint about the properties! Currently the AI has better information about the properties than is given to a player. All that a new player is given is that negative numbers are good and positive numbers are bad except for Education which is the other way around. Isn't there some way we can give some guidance to players, especially new players? E.G. have the numbers green when they are fine, yellow when they are becoming a concern and red when they are very bad and need immediate action?

An simplistic, old and probably now incorrect example for Crime could be:-

Fact:
At Tech X in column 15 a bunch of major crimes become available. They require Crime at value N.

Rules:
Before you reach a tech in column 13 any value of Crime is OK so the number stays green but once you reach column 13 the number, if above N, turns yellow.

Once have started researching the tech (or get the tech) and Crime is N or above the number is red.

It also goes red if the Crime is below N but the change in Crime last turn indicates it will go over N in less that 2 turns, yellow if it will go over in less than 10 turns.

What I am after is some guidance for new players with a default set of rules for the value and change in value of the properties that can be displayed easily. This is something missing from the Properties at the moment. Elsewhere I have discussed the idea of letting a more experienced player set up these rules for themselves to better suit their way of playing but that is another project.

Apologies for the incredibly dumb question, but how do i clear the cache?

As you can tell, i'm about as technologically illiterate as they come.
