Caveman 2 Cosmos

I just got an idea.
Why not make trained animals the counter unit to rouges etc.
It is almost impossible to get away from one. He can even sniff you out.
100% bonus against rouges etc maybe?
They do need to get buffed up as they are not that strong yet I think.

Edit: Just noticed Rouge is a Archery unit
Should this not be a Recon unit?

It has been fixed in the next update, no more EXPLOITING of the workers. Plus alot more changes have been included that will make this next update even better.

Sounds good, I hope I will have finished at least this first game until then. Judging from experience, it could take one or two weeks ;)

Can't wait for new update. Now with some of the resources going nation wide and Industrialism being reworked this will be so cool.

I agree that there something need to be done with rangers, there is a point in history when they are most powerful units especially that there is no promotions against recon units.

Btw did anyone noticed that some espionage missions disappear for cities with pop over 50 and the rest like stealing technology is really really cheap? I thing is a flaw of vanilla civ with no possibility of reaching that pop but is a little exploit right now, not to mention that u can't melt down nuclear core ;)

Ok, this is my final fix for the civilopedia. I know it doesn't appear to work, but if it's not to hard to implement it for the next version then it will add to the game for at least some people. :goodjob:

I have brought this up before and I think it is really important it gets adressed!

In all the games I have played the AI do NOT value religion.

For example.
I have both stonehenge and Oracle thus making the AI not value a civic change that makes him able to have a religion.
Sometimes the AI has not even bothered to focus on religion techs for some reason.

Solution?
Either Folklore has to allow a state religion or Prophets has to give other incentives other than +1 happiness from these two wonders.

In the games I've played where I have edited, and allowed a state religion with folklore civic, the AI has behaved totally different.

3 things.

1)
I do not know if the animals works correctly.
When I kill a animal and get food and while building a Tribe or settler,
the time it takes to make the unit do not go down.
I do not notice it takes less time for the city to upgrade when I kill animals either.
Maybe the game dont understand its getting food and hammers?

It does go down but the number of hammers is so small it does not register. The food goes straight into the stock pile not int the food available for unit building next turn.

2)
Is the Lascaux paintings working correctly? I built it and it is suppose to be obsolete when I research Mystisicm.
Now when I try to build The Valley of the Kings, it says only 5 world wonders per city. I have Oracle, Stonehenge, Pyramids and The Sphinx.

Obsolete wonders still count towards the limit.

I just got an idea.

Trained animals ie the dog units are the main counter unit to rouges etc. Or do you mean the subdued animals also?

Ranger units will be weaker in the next release.

Sounds interesting - maybe we should try the fokelore allows a state religion change and see what effect it has.

I meant that the animal unit would better counter rouge if it had bonuses against recon units and Rouge was changed into recon unit. This would be also against ambusher etc.
If they got bonus against spy unit also it would be sweet.

Then rouge would not be so über powerful so early either :)

I would not say historically accurate but scientifically accurate would be nice. I want to avoid magic, mythical creatures and other paranormal stuff. As for alternative timeline stuff like steampunk or mammoth riders in my opinion are scientifically plausible since mammoths and humans did exist at the same time and could have been domesticated like Asian elephants were in an alternative timeline. if was say dinosaur riders then I would say no because dinosaurs and humans did not exist at the same time. Since there are not any giant tadpoles then I consider this being just a mythical creature and should not be included.

As i have said before plausible sea monsters would be ...

- Shark
- Saltwater Crocodile
- Whale (Sperm Whale or Orca)
- Giant Squid

They are big enough to hurt boats and exist in real life.

Whether Shark, Whale, Orca, or Squid, as long as they present a clear danger to sea/ocean travel is what counts. Getting caught up over a pic of a tadpole vs one of these others is a moot point.

I do agree that magical and paranormal are not the scope of this mod. Mythical is debatable as scientifically plausible but not as probable because of fossilized evidence. But even religious works have mentioned the Leviathan and it's shimmering wake in the sea and who can fathom it's path. :)

Now in 10.2 the Barb Sea vessels didn't really start showing up in strength and numbers until the Brigantine was researched. If the Barb's earlier vessels did show up it was as a lone ship that was easily dispatched, whether by AI, Player or monster fish (although I can't say that I ever saw a Monster fish eliminate a Barb galley or trireme).

@SO,
On all these new fixes has JC been addressed? Or am I shouting into the wind?

JosEPh :D

I strongly support the idea of allowing Folklore to adopt a religion. While it's a nice idea to only allow a religion under a more advanced civic, its messing with the ai too much at the moment.

Um...is there any download that doesn't use a torrent? I'd really rather not use utorrent, and now I am, it's estimating 10 hours to completion. Is there any chance someone could upload using a different filetype? I've heard bad rumours about torrents, so didn't want to let it through my firewall. Hey, it might sneak attack me!

Thanks

The first page of this thread has a forum link to a megaupload link. This is what I used to download the mod.

Thanks! I'm an idiot, I didn't notice that the 'download here' was a link.

Now this brings up a problem, downloading:

Which does everyone prefer to use uTorrent or MegaUpload, or Atomic Gamer?

utorrent - any size can be uploaded there.

MegaUpload - only up to 1 GB

Atomic Gamer - up to 2 GB

If i add in the Leaderheads, its OVER 1 GB? so what say everyone:confused:

Dl in separate parts? Perhaps some coming from some places, and some from others? That way they won't be able to stop you from downloading it all at the same time.

But, as I said, preferably not requiring torrent :)

I'm very comfortable with Megaupload. But AtomicGamer doesn't require you to create an account too, right ? In that case I would be totally fine with this.
I could deal with torrents too, but for some people direct download links are probably more convenient.

I vote for anything but torrents :P

Keep giving your comments about how you want to download this great mod, but also, i just thought about, which color would you prefer as an interface:

Fire Engine RED

Normal BLUE

Forest GREEN

Darker RED

Dark PURPLE

Semi GOLD

SILVER

BLACK

I'm partial to the cool colors, blue and green.

JosEPh

Is it possible to change the colour as you advance through the ages? So it's a more wild colour to begin with (eg forest green), and by the end it has become more...clinical (eg silver). No idea how hard this would be to program.

Just played my first game and I wonder if this is a bug.....

I received three tribes in goody huts within 30 turns of the start, so by the time any of my rivals could build a second city, I was up to over a dozen and about 300 turns ahead of everyone. Now, I've killed everyone on both continents by 1150 (on snail), have four cities past Ledendary, but the victory screen still tells me it's still too early to predict any victory conditions!

Is there any way to finish, or do I just keep hanging in for a couple of centuries?

Perhaps an alein invasion is in the offing?
