CDZ - signals of their intentions

I talked to King Reno, and he said the following.

CDZ has no intention to inform C3B on them getting Astronomy, and thus present luxury trades. I kind of negotiated a technology advance information embargo of C3B.
They will not inform they got Astronomy, which means we will be the first ones, and if we play our cards right , the only ones to trade luxuries. We also plan to negotiate Feudalism versus one of their techs leading up to Astronomy, possibly theology.
A moderate version of a galley treaty, with a stand-by clause would also be quite conceivable.

Moderate Galley deal

1. We give directions to C3B galleys, and we direct these movements for a price of 2 gold upkeep per turn, and they inform us what they see from boat, and we inform them on all military action in the Northern theatre of war.

As a standby clause, we integrate a reciprocal non-aggression treaty, and an option to extend this to privateering, at their will, but still negotiated. In this latent agreement, but possibly active, we have already agreed on the bounty for sinking Brazucan vessels (30 gold) and an insurance (20 gold) if they lose their ship in battle, automatically forfeiting the upkeep paid by us. This also means a fast-track decisionmaking on our DP for deciding on these two galleys movements, outside all polling. The good thing with this clause, is that it lets CDZ decide when they feel ready to strike, yet provide us intel in the meantime and deprive C3B of double war happiness. I suggest that Rik, Matrix and me (I will chair this meeting) conduct this in European time, and post detailed accounts on the outcome, where we will vote over the finished agreement.

Privateer Agreement with 2 CDZ Galleys
Elephants for Silks luxuries trade
Feudalism vs Theology, possibly rest of Monotheism as a bona fide agreement (If we get Monotheism now, we also agree to make a research pattern agreement with CDZ).

With all this in place, I will also ask for a PsyOps treaty towards C3B.

I would suggest adding that something to the treaty.

If we are to share battle reports from the Northern Theater, then CDZ is not allowed to share that information with any other nation. How do we know that CDZ's neighboor is not planning an invasion, and if they find out from CDZ that our forces are away in a battle, then we are screwed mate.

CH

They got Silks for our Ivory

Goonie

If you read the proposal, you will see an intelligence treaty as part of this.

Please do, Rik.
No harm done there if they don't want to trade yet (for whatever reason).

This is great news, Provolution! :goodjob: Keep up the good work!

I agree with Akots that Engineering would be a much more useful tech for us.

Provolution, you need to read my question more carefully.

All intelligence treaties will include a Mutual Non Disclosure Agreement.
In the real world, a violation of this agreement may lead to jail, bankrupcy or a trail of Russian, Balkan and Latin American hitmen. I worked on several of these, and people could lose their breath over a wrongful comment.

We will most certainly have a very rigid Mutual NDA, and would carve this out in stone.

However, we will not see a scenario like 1066, where the Anglosaxons barely won over the Norwegian invasion just to be crushed by William the Conqueror. They will only know battle reports that are 3 turns or so old. Additionally, C3Bs death will mean an absolute end to the game. And we need to free CDZ Agent Smith from this Matrix right, since he cannot stand the sweat and smell of Brazucan bodily fumes any longer.

Right now, I smell the Brazucan death, and it is a sweet and pleasant smell.

Indeed, I am not. However, it is better to have deceptive names than to have self glorifying names. I can be blamed by some to have too high morale, but I sure see a lot of non-productive skepticism to counter. However, the idea of having galley names referring to the "target" will certainly force the Brazucan to guesswork, and Sao Paolo is indeed a very likely target.

What I meant was that you seem totally confident about a C3B defeat. Like I said, it was merely a suggestion for galley names and I prefer your way of naming. However, there is such a thing as being too confident aka cocky. I, meanwhile, wish I had all of the confidence that you have. I predict a long war, and with our GA and free AC, will hopefully end in a CFC victory.

Let's not forget Bremp is still a member in C3B's team.
Perhaps you know the worldclass civ players Charis, Sirian and Sulla ?? Well Bremp is a Wizard; 1 level higher than worldclass. And I saw him a few days ago checking out my PBEM games over at CDZ. So they want to know who they're up against and what I am capable of.
I do not think we have any reason to underestimate C3B nor do we have any reason to think a victory -if any- will come easily.

This is exactly why the confidence must be matched by meticulous strategy and leave nothing to chance. If I was cocky, I would name the galleys "Winner " and so on.

Show me how good he is: a link to a game he played?

But I agree in any case: we mustn't underestimate them. Not in any case. We must be ready for anything anywhere anytime. Really.
