CDZ - signals of their intentions

IMHO, it will be very tough. The only real advantage we have over C3B is fast units. And possibility of getting to knights. Another IMHO, these things are obvious. That is why my thinking is that the CoG raid might be completely premature and will waste our advantage. Instead of rushing out like first-time gamblers, it can be better to get a sure win against C3B with more methodical approach. However, it can work since their turnplayer is not Bremp. And Rik can tell that the role of turnplayer should not be underestimated. If it were Bremp who plays the C3B saves, we might stand a little chance with that assault. With Krasan and Co it can be OK.

However, I do believe that our turnplaying job has also been done adequately recently.

Bremp, possibly short for Brazillian Emperor, is possibly a premier speciment of the civplaying breed. However, as we know from our own side, is that internal politics, multiple positions, silly constitutional laws and numerous other kinds of red tape can have as much impact on the game. If BREMP had enough control over C3B, he would not have allowed all the mistakes they have done, and serving our Golden Age on a silver platter.

Frankly, I have not been impressed by neither CFC or C3B in the past, but I clearly see we have shaped up our act the last 40 turns or so. I say it once more, politics and powerful skepticists is a killer to any success formula.

Most good generals have been bold, imaginative, unconventional and decisive in their thinking. I think CFC made a good shift when we rooted out that skepticism and hesitation, and exhanged that with sound planning and optimism.

So, Bremp may be a brilliant person, but maybe he has faced some of the same destructive internal politics we have witnessed, and lost interest in the game.
In fact, for BREMP to be dangerous to us, that require almost full control from BREMPs side. The numerous Brazucan mistakes suggest something else.

And about the COG as a gamble ? It is a decisive strike around their flank into their productive center, and if they are fully prepared for it, we must have a mole.
The plan is as sound as it gets, and we get to spend soon obsolete AC and so on.
The success of this mission is determined by the damage we incur.

I beg to disagree here. Success in the game is mostly a matter of playing skill. With sharpening of those and getting experience, it will become more evident. Don't know about the mole but ascribing our possible failure on something that might not even exist is to the very least dishonorable. If I were playing C3B, I would be fully prepared for an attack in this direction. And there are a number of reasons for this.

1) They know we have a fleet.

2) A group of horsemen sent north is not a real threat. And we cannot hope to get past their mountain fortress anyhow.

3) This means a naval invasion. Leaving open eastern or western fronts.

4) Let's consider western front. The cities there are less productive than in the eastern front and far from the core. Whereas, from the east, it is quite possible to reach the core. Also, there is a Lighthouse to attrack the attack.

5) In place of C3B I would block all the costal tiles with units. With Engineering and industrious workers, all it takes is to build roads there. And they have enough units for this.

6) My bet is when our fleet sails there, all coast will be blocked so that we cannot land. This is the easiest approach to dismiss the CoG plan. Then they build occasional galleys and sink our fleet little by little. They have movement advantage and can keep their ships healing in ports if they survive the combat whereas we have no place to heal on the way.

This is why the Lighthouse should be portrayed as the objective, not Rio.
This would get them off balance. Fortaleza is not that obvious, and they need to protect Sao Paolo initially, and the only way to stop this from happening, would be to squat the Green Hill Tile very early. It is a gamble yes, but so will everything in the game be.

I found this in the msdg-email.

Greetings,

We apologize for keeping you waiting on our response in regards to the chat you
proposed. Due to a mix-up on our side, a message that should have been sent, was
erronously forgotten, and thus not sent.

Regretfully we must inform you that we are unable to comply with your request on the
subject of the aforementioned chat. At this moment it is our most humble belief that
CFC can offer us nothing of interest in trades to make such a chat worthwhile.
Please correct us if we are wrong, but we believe the only things CFC has to offer
to CDZ at the moment are 1) Ivory, 2) Feudalism, 3) gold, 4) alliance against C3B.
The first is not required as our Republic already has access to six luxuries, which
easily supplies enough happyness for our cities, until the advance of sanitation,
which is, quite far off, as you will undoubtably agree. We already have a deal in
place to acquire feudalism so the second is also undesirable from a CDZ viewpoint.
Thirdly, the gold. Strange as it may seem, we have no need for gold at the moment.
Our empire is self-sustaining in this area and extra gold is not required at the
moment. The fourth is quite obviously not in the best interest of CDZ. Your
diplomats have repeatedly contacted several CDZ team members, stating that you can
easliy handle C3B on your own, especially now your Golden Age has commenced. Any
help from CDZ should therefore not be needed, especially considering the logistics
involved would be very complicated and distance between CDZ and C3B makes any
military support highly unpractical.

So, we must therefor conclude that a time-consuming, lengthy and laborious
chatsession is not required as we believe there are no deals, which would benefit
CDZ, possible. If we are wrong in this assumption, do not hesitate to let us know
through the offical CDZ ISDG email adress, which is our preferred way of
correspondence with other teams, because of its' accessibility to the entire CDZ
team.

Regards,

The CDZ-Team

Or we could accept the fact that they do not wish to trade and not give them stuff they might need when it doesn't hurt us not to trade

I would instantly call for a suicide galley to search for the seaway to CDZ.

Six luxuries is a lot. There is nothing we can do in this case but try to negotiate peace treaty on any possible terms even if they are not looking like very reasonable.

All we need to do is a swift conquest of C3B.

Also Cat in C3B has couped their Ministry of External Affairs from Silverfox, and they are in internal turmoil. rumor has it that the Cat runs CDZ relations directly. I wonder what web-cam maneuvers a 36 year old Brazillian lady can do a week after Carnival to the unsuspecting souls of British and Dutch CDZ officials in a frozen Europe.

Your diplomats have repeatedly contacted several CDZ team members, stating that you can easliy handle C3B on your own, especially now your Golden Age has commenced. Any help from CDZ should therefore not be needed, (...)
Isn't that a little inconsistent with what they said earlier, about seeing no need for staying neutral?

He's also just a regular poster here.
