Well, okay he didn't die, but he withdrew from the game. I'm taking his loot though. ;)

I'll be taking my "p4at l00t" (I think any one from the chat room knows I have a thing for assorted types of slang, and yes, i use the term as often as I can, even if it stupid Haxor ;))

any way, like I was saying, I'll be taking my phat looy back to my pirate ship headed back home,to Constantinople ;)

besides, I thought all I had was a spider leg, and a rock, that body armour went to Evie a long time ago

All to the Empress. *tear* :mischief: Cool, I didn't know I got all that stuff. ;)

your not the empress any more Evie ;), and besides, it made sense to give the armour to the warrior in the group..

as I side note, when you guys go into that history oriented one, if it happens to land you in the middle of the Byzantine empire, then civcube,I would like a cameo apperance as the Byzantine emperor :) ;)

I know, Xen. :) But I'll always be some kind of Empress because I'm kinda bossy. ;)

Yeah! What Mister Pirate Dude said!

dont worry, the Centurion will make a comeback eventually :)

The old man nods with your decision. "A Time of Lost Aspirations...ahh, a fine choice to start your journey...."

He walks over to a table that you missed. Lying on it are various items. The old man picks them up and hands each item to you one by one.

"To Superevie," he begins, "I give you Armageddon's Bane." He presents the CivFanatic with an elaborately-decorated sword. The runes engraved all over the blade seem to glow.

"To Plexus...I give upon you the Heart of Emaladon." Plexus is given a golden walking stick that doubles as a weapon. What is most apparent about it, however, is the blood-red sapphire on top. It looks it can read your mind....

"To puglover," the old man continues, "your gift is the Book of Sight." An ancient, leather-bound tome is handed to puglover. What is written inside is very wise and may or may not apply to most situations.

"To naervod...I give you Man's Legacy." naervod is given a set of heavy, gold tools. "They will create for you anything you desire, and will defend you well if need be."

The gift-giving continues. "For Gengis Khan...your gift is the Assasin's Armoury." Genghis Khan puts on a long, flowing black cloak that appears to have armor underneath.

"Finally, Thrawn..." The old man looks at Thrawn's companion. "Let me speak with you a moment..." Shnare the Spider is taken aside for a few minutes. The old man appears to be telling the arachnid something that both delights and frightens him. Among what little you hear is "Are you ready?" and "This is unsettling, but I think I can do it." The old man and Shnare come back to Thrawn's side.

"Your spider friend has agreed..." says the old man. "He has agreed to join you on your quest. However, he cannot do it in his current form. Therefore..."

Suddenly the spider's body twists and changes color very rapidly. There is a bright flash, and what was once a very ugly spider is now a handsome hawk. It flies up on Thrawn's shoulder.

"Seer, as he is now known, will be able to help you in more ways than you can imagine."

"And now...now is time to begin the Journey of the ConQuest." He takes the red orb from his pouch and puts it on the pedestal. Instantly, the room grows dark.

Unseen winds whip around you....

The liquid pool writhes and spins in the winds....

Red glows from within the Gate....

The room grows red from the Gate's light....

The old man and the room dissolve in the red light....

All things are lost in your eyes....

All the world is erased....

Time to begin....

Time to begin again....

To breathe new air....

To explore limitless possibilities.

Moreover, he hath left you all his walks,
His private arbours and new-planted orchards,
On this side Tiber; he hath left them you,
And to your heirs for ever, common pleasures,
To walk abroad, and recreate yourselves.
Here was a Caesar! when comes such another?

~ Antony, Act III Scene II of William Shakespeare's The Life and Death of Julius Caesar

The party of Civilization Fanatics is now on the top of a hill.

It is a pleasant place; the grass is green and tall, the cloudless sky is deep blue, and everything seems new.

To the south you see some old ruins not unlike Stonehenge. However, they also look rather Greek.

To the east and north winds a dirt road that is used all the time. Fresh, green plains spread out for miles around.

But what catches your eye especially is what appears to be a city in the distance...and something moving on the road....

I say approach the moving thing on the road. I'll study the Book to learn how to defend myself against sword attacks. :)

I agree, send Seer to scout ahead of us while we walk down the road towards whatever it is.

You send Seer ahead to see what the moving thing on the road is. The avian creature soars ahead for what seems like miles before he flies back to you. He lands on a nearby tree.

"It appears to be a military unit of some sort," he suggests. "I've never been outside of Limbonet before, but they look pretty primitive. I mean, who would still ride a horse and use a sword?"

I better go too. I've got my new sword, so hey you gots protection. ;)

Thrawn and Superevie approach the arriving party on the tightly-packed road. The sun's light angles into afternoon.

Seeing the two, the party stops. It is quickly clear that these are Roman guards. They get off their horses and approach cautiously.

"Eccere! Constiti! Qualelibet hactenus?"
