Well.... I'll be...
You're right!! It displayes the collosseum, the aquaduct and more!!! Do you think this is the actual city screen, i.e. the manageable screen, or the fancy ooh-look-at-my-city-being-beautiful-screen?

OMG Fry002 you weren't abducted! Anyway I haven't played either CTP's so even if Civ 3 is a rip off of them I going to get it anyway to try out what the b*tchin is about. I seriously doubt though, that Sid Meier is going to let this game suck, I just don't think it's in him.

Don't get too excited, Cedric and Matrix. Chips & Bits has that pre-order thing for a LONG time, since May or June 2000. Many people have been bugging Firaxis for a release date, but Firaxis has not annouced it yet, not even a temporary release date.

Silly...

WOOOOOW! (i feel dizzy)

Civilization III will defently become the game of the year 2001 or 2002. Why do I say this? The game concept (those who have played Civ I and II know what I am talking about) is just genius , and thinking about what we know about Civ III and now that we have seen some screen shots also... Civilization RULES! Now that I look upon one of my favorite games of all time, seeing the graphics, I am moved in my heart - and I say to Sid Meier and those at Firaxis... keep up the good work, and do your best to care about our precious Civilization.

Those comments about that it looks to much like CTP are very weak... try and take a look at CTP again and look at theese screenshots... what is more beutyfull? And by the way, the graphics in CTP was never bad, it was just the game... it was NOT the real Civilizatin... There can be only one! ... Civilization III is carefully watched by the
king.gif
and maker of the One and Only Civilization, Sid Meier!

B could also just be an quick link to an options screen. Just what can this mystery icon mean....the crowd wait in eager anticipation. MrLen could have hit the nail on the head with the build queue as well.

As for the city view, if it has been improved from civII then I can live with it. I still think it's a bity "frilly" though and despite the rumours I'm not into "frilly".

(posted on main page news)

I have scanned the screenshots and OCR all the text from the Computer Gaming World magazine's Civ3 preview. It was a time consuming process, but I am sure you will enjoy reading it.

Also, if you can find the magazine in your city, I strongly encourage you to buy it. It's well worth the cover price($7.99).

Poor Thunderfall, are your fingers hurting from all that typing?

The preview is excellent, it is good to see the bits where Sid is actually talking that I didn't see before. What more can I say? I can't wait.

Hell no! I am not crazy!

My scanner did most of the work in "extracting" the text to a text file (OCR). But I did need to fix some inconsistencies in the paragraphs because sometimes it's hard for the scanner to distinguish letters that are close together. Checkout one of the output files produced by the scanner.

Very nice Thunderfall! Good for us that haven't the magazine in our country!

It's nice to read that Sid Meier is such an pleasing person. That might just make the game a bit more pleasing too.

Dan Magaha, should you read this, is Sid Meier really such a nice guy as is stated in the article?

It's surprising to hear Meier speak. In a tone that's neither forceful nor slight, and in a manner that's neither outgoing nor shy, he answers questions and offers up his opinions with the simple kind of clarity that has you, two days later, quoting him to your friends. It's easy to think that he likes you.

Yes thanks for the hard work Thunderfall! I really liked that article. I'm sure this is going to be great! This site is going to go wild before they release Civ3... Who's going to be the first to get it?

Absolutely! And I'm not just saying that because he's my boss, either. Sid is so down to earth and is just a really nice guy. He's just a brilliant, creative person who really, really enjoys his work.

When they say the city view screen is "out" are they referring to the graphical panorama " View City " option when your in the City Screen. You know that silly little option where it shows all the improvements in that city. I know image 2 looks like this, but maybe it was just an example to show the graphics and they are going to remove it laters.
