CH-47 Chinook ( helicopter)

To MaxRiga

I am glad to hear that you liked it. Just to let you know, I am planning to rig all of Nautil's helicopter's (with gloss maps and damage textures). I also would like to eventually rig all of Nautil's air units. I have made working rigs for the stock fighter, bomber, jet fighter, and stealth bomber. These need sounds and there is an issue with the fade in/out sequences; however, hopefully I will be able to work this out soon.

To modelers:

I have completed rigs for the following models. They are in .max format (3DS Max 8), I tried exporting them to .3DS format but the animations did not export correctly. Most need sound keys added (I eventually wanted to create .CSV files for the sound), but all of the animations are complete, all support gloss maps and damage textures, and the animations are as close to the originals as I could create.

Gunship
Fighter
Jet Fighter
Bomber
Stealth Bomber
Frigate
Ironclad
Destroyer
Battleship
Mobile Artillery
Snafusmith's Humvee
Self-Propelled Gun (Nautil's <German WWII>)

This is an awesome step forward to help animate all those models that pop up. One question though, is there any way to make them in a format 3ds Max 7 can use? I'm a version behind, and I know all of these would greatly speed up some of the units I have in development, at least for the initial release. Again, great work!

In terms of sound teys, those are very easy to add, as are custom sounds. One thing I've been dying to do is add custom sounds to all the new air units produced, as all at the moment us the stock sounds. I can help you out with these if you want. Though to be honest, all you need to do is look at the example files supplied (along with the Tank_complete file) to get a handle on them.

Oh my god Servius  - is it possible you would share them with us? (i also have max 8.0 :)) and i really hate this nifviewer if you could provide those animations i ould make units easier with Sharick's method

you can try sharick's tutorial - complete guide... it's all there explained how to add the soundsit's quite easy i played a little bit with changing sounds for truck i've made

Yes, I was eventually hoping to release these rigs to the community. Most use stock Fireaxis models; however, and I am not sure if Fireaxis would like its models released in mesh form.

Right now, I am in the process of writing a set of instructions for the rigs. Covering information that I have pieced together. Topics will include, uniform rotary motion, proper shader parameters for rotors, NiZbuffer properties, NiStencil property, lights and texture effects, alpha keys, visibility keys, UV transforms, and other topics.

Hopefully, I should be finished with this in a few days, and will be able to start releasing some of these rigs. The sound keys will not take long. I do know how to add them; however, I have just been a bit lazy and haven't added them yet.

Yes, it would require a lot of custom animations but it would look so cool and be so useful... A troop transport for the US that could attack as well...
