Challenge-VI-01

Very powerful game again, Tachy!
I expect nothing less from you nowadays.:)

Perhaps the time has come where I should try to improve my earlier woeful effort - using many of your tips of course, if I may?

One question...surely when you capture a capital on turn 5 it will auto-raze?

Not if you have no city razing checked. ;)

Still, I am a pathetic player...anyways this is what they say...:dunno:

Nice to see you again! As far I remember, you said once you are no gardener when coming to micro a game; that is your weakest point. If I had to play as fast, the final date would suffer from it.

I more or less like bcool in regards of time invested in a game (~12 hours), while shulec plays damn fast. Though I am sure my patience to play through it comes from my marathon (marabuse?) experiences in the far past...

Come to think, I wonder if Ozbenno should have forbid that...no that is complicated to verify afterwards...

That was done in challange II with a conquest game. Kaitzilla pulled off a monster deity conquest where he took a butt-load of cities on one turn for conquest.

I find that extremely unlikely!! Perhaps the remark of a player who thinks highly of themselves, but is frustrated at your achievements :yup:

Yes. I must control my tendency to speed through games. :nono:

Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. I am playing a game right now, and have just reached 500AD after 2hrs 15 mins.

I have been away doing other things and playing other things for a while. We'll have to see how my Civ skill level has survived this absence.

By the way, I assume the answer to my original question was that you had set 'No city razing' option?

Technically, we are all pathetic according to many in S&T subforum...and Seraiel made a horrible diplo gaffe, pushing us to the bottom.

Look at this thread and see.

Looks like I am alone on this one.

I give in to the majority.
...and this response just shows me how much you do care about it!

No. Write me off as having a "couldn't care less" attitude, but don't give up if you feel strongly about it.

I'm intrigued about who this 'majority' is though.

Almost every citizen of Strategy & Tip subforum and many HoF players.
Always remember that you are mainly playing to please yourself, and the most important opinions that you value will not necessarily be those who shout the loudest.

Joyeux Noel, Tachy!

I feel myself tempted towards the foolish old "Run North for the Horses" strategy in this one. (I'm always tempted on Oasis maps :) )

It's often a foolish strategy because you lose 10 turns walking before settling your capital.

I know this trick used to work. I'm away for the Holiday, so I can't try it. If you want the horses, you can start in the north. Simply put yourself in as player 2.

Not any more, unfortunately, WT.
When playing with BUFFY, you are not able to pick which player you are. It's number 1 all the time.

Incidentally, that post of mine was a long time ago! I did play my first attempt using that strategy, but I now feel that the strategy outlined by Tachy & others is much more likely to yield early finish dates.
