Challenges loading CIV4 - Mac 10.4.8

Greetings from Down Under and guys, I need some help here.

Just acquired CIV4 and am getting ' XML Load Error' messages.

1) "Failed loading XML file Assets//XML/GameInfo/" and
2) "Load XML call failed for GameInfo/CIV4PLayerOptionInfos.xml. Current XML file is: "

Civ 3 worked fine, and I've deleted it in case space was an issue.

Any ideas ?
