Hello, sorry for the repost but I was told I might find better luck asking my question here, as my question relates more to caveman2cosmos.

I started a new caveman to cosmos game and edited the start_year in global defines to be -10. However, when I start a new game it puts my year as 49950AD (which is not 10BC obviously). I am using the advance start and I set the starting era to classical, so perhaps those are the problems, I do not know. I do wish to know though how I can edit my save file to change the year?

Isn't it easy? Go into the Notepad file and it's right on top.

Open the save with notepad? Also how is Advance Start broken? Will anything bad happen to my saves if I use it? I just want to know if I should continue my game.

Yeah, it's in saves (in your BTS folder I think; not C2C). No, you obviously shouldn't use advanced start if you've already started a game without.

Alas I couldn't find it, so I am just going to create a new game and try and bump the tech level of everyone up to classical with the world builder. Is there a way I can give everyone classical tech instead of adding in the techs manually?

I don't know. You could do that in vanilla WB but the option has been either moved or removed in C2C. Search yourself, I didn't.

Also, that doesn't seem like a balanced idea. All ancient techs without any infrastructure or myths whatsoever?

If you know the mechanics behind advanced start, there is nothing wrong.
Advanced starts assume a % of turns have passed.
Setting start year as -10 refers to start year at turn 0, which is prehistoric era or whatever you call that in c2c.
Since every turn in that era is dunno how many years, it is not surprising your game ended up starting in 50000 A.D.
