changes to fuedalism

I made a couple of changes in my game to make feudalism more interesting and how the government really worked

corruption : communal (from problematic) reflecting the mind set of feudal society consisting of self sufficient city states over a centralized goverment

assimilation : 6% (doubled from 3%) refelcting the greater indepedence of the city states, less loyalty to the crown, morelikely to rebel if it suits the city

hurry: paid labor (changed from whipping), a more bnvolent society than despotic, city leaders feel greater responisiblity to city workers


What do you think of my changes? Do you think it makes feudalism too powerful or anywthing, that's what I'm most concerend about, but right now it seems pretty useless.

Not only that, but in my mind, that is one of the key distinctions of Feudalism. Monarchy and Republic are already cash-rush, if Feudalism is too, what's the difference? It gives you a pop-rush government option that at least gets you out of Despotism and the tile penalty.
 
I agree with Feudalism having communal corruption. As it is now, there is little compelling reason to use Feudalism instead of Monarchy. Communal corruption would make more sense and make Feudalism more distinctive.
 
Actually, there is compelling reason to use it. Suppose you're stuck in an area with no (or little) rivers/lakes. Most of your cities are below size 7, but are productive enough to be making units every 3-8 turns. You have a ton of cities, and a ton of units. Fuedalism has a high unit support for towns. That's the one reason I'd choose it over Monarchy.
 
I use Feudalism as it is; it has lots more unit support than Monarchy (early, before cities are mostly huge.)
If you gave me cash-rush as well, it would be TOO suited to my playstyle - large military, lots of small towns, and always adding more of both....
 
I agree with the last 2 posters.
Someone on the forum mentioned it,
"why research monarchy or republic while you
have to research feudalism anyway".
In my last 2 games I went from despotism to
feudalism (first time I used this government)
and I'm very happy with the result.
It's simply the best step forward.No units
supporting problem and no happiness problem.
It's good until the most of your towns become cities.
 
Has anyone tried / tested modding feudalism with maintenance free improvement as was originally intended, does the AI actually prefer it over all other gov type as the developers purportedly said?

Anyway, communal corruption is good and assimilation also but not paid-rush.

I'd like to make some alterations to my C3C buy the editor from civ3 wont let me change c3c. does anyone know how i upgrade the civ3 editor to change c3c? a patch or is it just somehow corrupt?

you just have to make use of the C3C editor, which is located in the C3C-folder. "....\CivilisationIII\Conquests\Civ3ConquestsEdit.exe"

I recommend adding a new folder "C3C" to your desktop and putting the shortcuts to the C3C.exe, the Civ3ConquestsEdit.exe and the Civ3ConquestsEdit.chm (the helpfile for the editor) into that folder. Makes life easier....

Feudal lords did care of their workforce because workforce was rare. In some cases, feudal lords became brutal in order to seize more goods from their labour force.
but mostly, they looked after their human-herd.
what should a yankee know of feudalism?

Increasing the assimilation percentage decreases the risk that cities flip from you!
