I'm reskinning Clanky4's excellent Lucrehulk-class Battleship to create a Rebel skin for it.

The .dds file for the main part of the ship covers a fourth of the ship. I'd like to replace the texture used for the front half with a different texture, but keep what I have for the back half. How would I go about it?

I've attached a copy of the trade federation battleship with a in the texture/mesh split close to the center. The texture for the front half is named:
cis_cap_fedcoreship.dds

The back half is named:
cis_cap_fedcoreship_back.dds

I'm not entirely sure how you would do so in nifskope. However in blender, as far as I know, you'd have to split the mesh and reassign one of the textures. However I've found that for some reason this might also destroy any rigging the mesh has. In Blender you'd select the mesh in edit mode, select all the faces/vertices you'd want to separate, then press P, then select Selection.
