Those BARBS!!! There so cheap, someone else must have noticed that barbarians can perform the pillage function even if they aren't partisans, and it seems to not take any turns either!
Ah well I wish it were possible to turn barbs off i mean just for ONE game to see what it was like sure wouldnt be that difficult but still...

About Barbs, i like to trap them, then violently rip them apart! No one pillages my mine and gets away with it!!!! Sometmes i like to destroy a few enemy cities, then let barbs take em, the enemy wont get them back for maybe a 150 turns! In the mean time barbs continue to pillage and rape and murder!
Since barbs are so cheap, it is often fun (and helpful) to go "trolling" for barbs... take a ship and dip (while exploring), and when you notice barbs near the AI side of the map (along the coast), take your ship and dip, and bribe one or two barbs off... they will be NONs. Barb horsemen are a great deal, since Leonardo's will eventually upgrade them to Cavalry for you!
Cultivate them!!! Think of them as a spawning resource and use them to defend your civ. If I get the chance, allow a barbarian to take over a 1 pop city and let them grow and produce. Just remember, don't build cities too close to the barb city so that you run into support issues. After your empire has grown in size, it will get the benefit of having a defense force that is unsupported (NONE units) and cheap. It'll will give you moretime toward maturing your civ by allowing you to develop the cities by building improvements or caravans. I'll leave it to you to figure how to use this strategy. Enjoy!!!
ahahahahaaaa....<br />Cheers Mike <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
Just tried it and it's great.. I've also helped some barbs take over an enemy city on a different continent and just dropped a couple of spies there .Instant armies'r'us
Well it certainly works. My ironclads emptied a couple of AI cities and then one of the barbs took it over. I just posted a few diplomats close by(not too close ) and hey presto instant unsupported army .
Just be careful !!!dont be tempted to buy the barb city too soon otherwise you could be in with a nasty shock when half your army disappears..
