The only ones I know of are the Java version of MapStat that allows you to see the areas occupied by each civ and determine how close you are to the domination limit, and the editor that's the subject of a thread or two in this forum. You can also use several of the general utilities that are html-based, such as the combat calculator, and there's at least one excel spreadsheet for forecasting a 20K culture victory date. I don't know of any cheat programs - I'm not sure if there are even any effective ones for PCs.

There's also that 'see all terrain and cultural borders by changing some graphics' bug/exploit which is said to still work for Vanilla Civ. ... Just tried it. It works, but takes all the fun out of exploring. *shrugs*
Concerning utilities I only know about the ones AlanH already mentioned.
Wait, there's also iEditCiv which lets you add units, resources, citizens, civilizations and improvements IIRC.

As I posted in the FAQ:
  • CivReplay Viewer works under Virtual PC
There are a number of Civ III cheats which are not specific to Mac, but I won't tell you. :)

Why take the fun out of the game? Your brain should be so much superior to the AI, that you have no need to know.

Oh I love playing the game straight without cheats, dont get me wrong. But every now and then I like to start a game were I am insanly superior (spelled wrong)

Hi there.
I'm quite new here, and to civ III in general, nad was really happy to see a mac board here.
Now, what and where is this iEditCiv you speak of, can you reallt ADD (as opposed to replace) units with it. How about techs (i was begining to consider opening my .bic file in hexedit)
Now, i have the 1.32.1 version of Civ3Edit, is it the up-to-date version?

On a related note, many great mods on this site and others are for PTW, and won't work on mac civ3. Do you think it would be possible to "port" them without to much troubles?

Thanx to anyone answering.

The iEditCiv thread is here. I've never really tried it, and I've moved on to version 1.29b2 of Civ3 for GOTM compatibility, so I doubt if it would even work for me now.

That's the last one I saw. Same problem, though, it doesn't work with version 1.29b2.

I expect they use a BIX file to distribute the scenario. If so, you would need a BIX-to-BIC file converter for starters. Even if they use a .sav there are differences in the format (a .sav file includes an embedded BIX/BIC). I don't think a converter exists.

The next problem would be that there are several new civs and units built into PTW that are just not available in the box copy of Civ3, so you would have to create those extra components and add them to 1.2x in a similar way to the way Cracker's team mod 1.29 to behave like PTW. However, they do it with different unit and civ names, presumably to avoid copyright problems with Firaxis. I'm sure there are other gotchas as well :)
