I just registered at chess.com and one of the first thing I was told about on a forum was a software program called Chess Mentor 3. They offer it by monthly or yearly subscription. I played a little with the first free lessons and loved it!

But I have seen it advertised on a CD ROM at Chess House. There are four of them depending on your advancement. Reasonably priced.

Since I travel some, I think it would drive me bonkers to be paying for a monthly subscription that would sit there unused while I was gone.

My question is, what is the difference in the content, interface, etc. between the subscription Chess Mentor and the CD?

Narz, I was hoping you would have the answer. Anyone?

I have 3 hours of Chess Mentor being a premium member. I'd buy the CD ROM, sounds best for your situation. How much is it anyway?

Ask erik (the owner of chess.com) if you can buy it thru him cheaper than Chess House, he's pretty cool & chances are will get back to you quickly despite how busy he must be.

Oh yeah, and tell him Narz referred you. You didn't use my referral link to sign up. :( (no worries :))

Let me know what you decide to do. :)

I loved the demo; it was both educational and entertaining. The Chess House site show they're out of stock for the Chess Mentor 3 Deluxe but $180 was a bit pricey anyway. Do you think the less expensive edition a good value? It seem that Chess House site is out of stock on all but the scholastic edition.
