Child Labor?

Whats your opnion on child labor and how to stop it?

I think poverty and child labor are connected and if you end poverty you will end child labor.

Here's my two stage plan of action:

1) Have child labour laws and enforce them.
2) Have a working public education system and fund it properly.

I saw this T.V Programe on how Nike employed children so I stopped buying stuff made by them.

Child labour means cheaper products, which is good, though the quality of them is often debatable.

If that's the plan, then provide an education system before you ban it. Nasty and exploitative as it is, many of these kids' families are well below the poverty line and 2p a day can make a difference in some places. If you stop them working before you provide an alternative, you breed both hunger and resentment. Naturally, getting rid of poverty should also solve the issue. Unfortunately, that's rather tricky, and doesn't happen overnight.

In the mean time, go go kiddie militant trade unionism! Demand 3p a day - you deserve it.
