Chinese Diplocacy Pop-up locks-up

This is a plea for help. I can no longer play the CIV4 scenerio
because when the Chinese Diplocacy Pop-up displays, it does not
go as far as to see what the leader wants, but instead locks-up
my computer. CNTY+ALT+DEL does not even work. Have to hard
boot at that point. Just the Chinese pop-up does this.

I've just forgone contacting them, but now they contact me at the
beginning of my turn and then wammo!

I got a 2.8GHZ with 768Mb RAM, 128Mb Radion and have installed the
1.61 patch. No help.

The only workaround I can think of is to declare war on China and kill them before they come begging for peace. Uhm.. and what else... what kind of scenario is it? Can you post a save?
