Chronicles of Mankind

Also, did you ever get around to the city razing bug?
That's out of my reach. I know less about dll modding than you do.
But as @moviebrain pointed out, there is a work around:
I only hope the city razing issue will be resolved in the near future, but until then here is an workaround which wasn't mentioned here so far:
In the CivilizationIV.ini change CheatCode = 0 to CheatCode = chipotle
Now you can use CTRL + A in the city screen which lets you demolish buildings or Abandon City.
No need to use the WorldBuilder or other hacks and works like a charm...

It's almost the same as pillaging the city. You even get money for it. I'm happy with it as a temporary solution.

That works I guess. I'll try it once your mod gets it's next turn in my rotation. Am currently trying to beat the Age of Ice scenario on far too hard a difficulty.

why AI ALWAYS build tons of artilery, and none of normal infantry units, like calvary or infantry?

chinese army have 2,3 mln infantry, 14 000 artilery units and 6500 tanks, not 3 mln artilery and 14 000 infantry soliders

also there are some bugs with shintoism buildings + agricultural trait, when i played all was ok, but when i load save i have big penalties to food, some wrong miscalculations maybe?

i played without latest patch, because link to it was on page 64 and this topic have already 65 pages, if it helps.

Do you have a save file?

Than why don't you go back one page and download it? :mischief:

Recourse Depletion was buggy ever since I remember. Modders more experienced than me tried to fix it, so I won't even bother. Maybe @Inthegrave wants to put it on his to do list but I have the feeling that this modcomp should be rewritten from scratch.

I believe it is your videocard. I've seen a similar bug report for AND2 years ago and it wasn't the mod but the player's GPU.
No grey lines for me:

At first it didn't work for me either with your save but now it works with mine:

Though I wouldn't call this "working correctly". I don't think it is useful anyway. It's better to check the city screen IMO.

EDIT:
After reloading the game, it got fixed:

...and using ALT+TAB brakes it again :hammer2:

Newer alt+tab civ if you are running in fullscreen mode. It breaks all sorts of things when it works at all.

Hmm, I have never had a problem with it. Always works flawlessly for me and I run it on Windows 10 and I do a lot of alt tabbing.

For me the game won't alt tab at all in fullscreen mode on win 10. It works perfectly fine in windowed mode though. And others have reported some issues. Bottom line is as a rule of thumb don't alt tab old games unless you absolutely know what you are doing.

I understand what you mean as I have had that problem in the past with one game but overall I experience almost no issues with even 20 year old games. It's such a rare issue that I don't even think about it most of the time.

And I wouldn't say it should be a rule of thumb, if the game crashes simply open the game back up and don't repeat the mistake.
Nobody needs to be an expert and know what you are doing to try it out, especially in my own experience where most old games alt tab just fine.

I on the other hand experience all sort of funky problems with it and older games including but not limited to freezing my entire computer, crashing it, forcing a restart, crashing the game, freezing the game etc. And in one notable example a couple years ago I even had a situation where an old install of Red Alert 2 hung with a black screen upon alt tabbing which confused my PC resulting in my CPU going into overdrive for some bizarre reason which in turn drove my cooler into overdrive to the point that I honest to god got noise complaints from my neighbors.

So yea. You two are lucky.

Wow, that is pretty damn insane.

Yeah, i had a similar graphical bug in two games, but they disappeared after restarting the game or reloading the save.
I can't remember ever seeing something like this before, but it is a very rare occurrence which seems to happen only when the game is opened for a long time (i play always in windowed mode on win 10).

why AI ALWAYS build tons of artilery, and none of normal infantry units, like calvary or infantry?

I remember seeing this even in older AND games and some others users reported this too, but it got never really fixed. I think the reason is that most artillery units are too cheap in comparison to units with a similar strength.
Making them even more expensive could maybe fix it a little.

Well, actually you don't get money for just abandoning the city, only 1-2 workers (depending on city size?).
To making money you would have to sell every building in the city first, so it is even less of a cheat.

it sounds rather quite simple; give small chance to remove resource from tile (like 0.005% chance per turn)
or make a random roll on remove any resource (0.005% chance to roll, script choose what kind of resource remove (strategical, luxury, happiness)?

Will investigate it. On my to do list from now on.

Yes, with CTRL+A you can sell the buildings in the captured city before abandoning it. The point is there is a "reward" or "loot" just like with pillaging.

Oh, can you point me where this is coded, please? :mischief:

Question:
Guys, what are your experiences about volley attack? Isn't it overpowered a bit? If so, ho much? And is it all units or only certain ones?
Let me know what you think.

It works surprisingly well. The only thing I don't like is the fact that with a lot of artillery you can completly wipe out the enemy without fight (normally under fire units disperse and run away (e.g. to adjacent fields))

one time i conquer the city with 135% defense using 30 longbowmans and enter the town without fight (all enemy defenders die)
