It hasn't been settled on what to build next in Dellham. GaryNemo has suggested (as do I) building another settler. My aim is to start another city in the Northlands.

Statistics: +2 Food, 4(-1) Shields, 5(-1) Trade. Grows in 7 turns (no unrest even with 2 units gone). To build a settler takes 14 turns without IPRB. Support would be a small issue (unless a unit is lost), as there would be 4 units supported by 2 citizens for a while.

Reneaux: +2 F, 3 S, 3 T. Finishes current settler build in 5 or 6 turns, and Elvis can leave. Then build settler, archer, temple or ????

CJ: +3 F, 3 S, 2 T. Grows in 5 turns (unrest - hire Elvis from Reneaux). Settler finishes at least 8 turns away unless spending more than $8+8 IPRB. Post your opinion if you have one.

Shortly, the DH Settler support will disappear into Iron City. I also recommend the Phalanx take Iron City as its home.

It is an exciting idea to build 3 Settlers: Dellham Reneaux and CJ. But I'm not convinced it would be safe. OP can build an Archer to escort the Reneaux Settler NE to found on the NE Point Whale City. Then Reneaux builds another Settler. The Vikings are a nuisance for every other plan - even the founding of G2NE. It seems CJ should change to Archer. But there will be much Elvis, since we'd send the Archer to patrol the River.

I haven't voted yet, but believe Dellham might need a Temple. Or, Dellham Archer and continue w CJ Settler, to found River City. Perhaps the way to found a NW City is for Dellham to build a Temple... I'm confused.

My idea:
Castle Jane should change to archer as a backup. It should stay in CJ to avoid unhappy faces but when the sh!t hits the fan it should be able to jump in.
Dellham settler founds Iron City and Dellham should start constructing a new one.
Reneaux finishes this settler. Archer from OP comes to defend it while it founds River City.
After that Reneaux starts archer.
This last Reneaux archer should be rushed to finish together with the Dellham settler so that they can go north together and found a new city.

I hope this makes sense... ;)

I'd like to see a settler from Dellham and an archer from Reneaux. The settler can follow up the sweep of our units up the peninsula and secure a decent city location up there, with one of the units there to guard it. We can use the archer to follow the attacking troops and fortify it on a likely spot if possible, ready for a settler to come and join it. If necessary we can use the archer to fortify himself on an isthmus and prevent the AI from passing without using boats. I don't feel that this will be really necessary at the moment because if the AI have a city then it isn't going to be well defended just yet and we can easily kick them off, but I'd like another archer to be certain. :)

We will need to send a steady stream of settlers and units northward for a while, until we are well positioned. There are so many good ideas being proposed, I don't quite know what to support. :crazyeye:

I still haven't voted, Sorry. Civ1 has a remarkable new idea, as I understand it. And it seems consistent.

The group is no longer thinking of going up to the North Whale site, North of OP, with Reneaux Settler and OP Archer? We are deferring that plan to go work on the NW Vikings. Is that it?

About the River Site. We must pick one.

And the duke's plan, a variation on the same switcheroo?

I don't know. But then, I'm not the most informed of the citizens taking part in this decision. If possible, I would like to go for the "kick out vikings while developing with unimpeded speed" approach.

Is that one of the R sites in this map?

Let's start arguing the merits & flaws of each location!

To me, it seems to be a variation of Civ's plan with a little more concern on safety. I am undecided at the moment which plan I prefer...
