Hello

I wonder. Will cities grow on 2 or more tiles? That would be fantastic. A big city that taks 4 or 5 squares/tiles. It would be great in battles. Capturing city would not be so easy and quick.

They are deffenetlly on more then one squarre. I asked before about city battles and nobody don't know answer. I think that there will be no unfortunatelly ''street fights'' becouse nobody confirm that from Firaxis:cry:

I don't think that it is good if cities will grow on 2 or more tiles. For me there is not interesting and I do not see in it special sense. Cities on 1 tile it is distinctive feature Civilization to other strategy-games.

Unfortunatly I could not find the quote, but City appearance can grow to surrounding tiles. However the actual City is still only on the one tile.

A city covers a 21 tiles radius, with the center tile being the only attackable one. I do think that the city view graphics will expend to the surrounding tiles.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but is there a 'destroy improvement' feature in the game? And if so, what effect will it have on the tiles surrounding the central tile that have city graphics on them?

A wild guess: as the city grows some 'suburbs' are added around the city tile (over possible improvements :hmm: ); like the cottages etc. in the country side that grow into towns and which gives you gold. So then if you destroy the suburbs, the city still survives.

Actually yes. In fact, when you destroy improvements now you gain gold for doing it. It's encouraging to destroy your foes improvements along with their cities. You'll likely see improvments rising above the outer city squares so you can destroy them just like any other improvement, but they shouldn't affect the city graphics themselves.

Yeah, it's good that they kept the actual city on 1 tile (but added the cool gfx). When I tried to create 'street fights' back with Empire it never felt like it was right.

I tried to find a quote for you weakciv but I couldn't. You are right though, I also remember reading that a city only takes up one tile and it appears to sparl out onto other tiles when it actually doesn't.
