City look in Civ games

Throughout civ, late game modern tech cities look like New York or Shanghai with their large scramble of skyscrapers. In the real world however, many cities have districts of skyscrapers but overall have medium sized buildings spanning 3 to 12 stories high, especially in Europe. I like the idea of spreading cities out with districts but I still see the dense skyscraper box found in previous Civ games. Wouldn't it be great if a player could decide whether or not to be a city of tall towers, or a city of smaller buildings?

First of all, welcome to the forums and congrats on your awesome nick! :D

Secondly, prepare to have your thread moved to a forum that no one ever looks at.

Thirdly, this idea should be doable as a mod if the devs' claims about the extreme moddability of the game are even close to the truth, I'd imagine. The city graphics are already differentiated between the various civs, so all that remains to be done is to tone down their skyscrapiness, so to speak.

Maybe have a city look based on highest yields produced? Also shows the player from afar what that city has focused on over the years. With this idea, if the city has a lot of gold/food, you would see tall building to represent apartments and office buildings. If it's high in production you could see some more factory style buildings, etc. Just a thought, overall the city look in the modern age is more of an afterthought for me. I do understand where you are coming from.

Things are already as you say. There is one skycraper district, the city center, and multiple normal habitation districts, the neighberhoods.
