City Names

I prefer the post-WW2 'unofficial' Austrian
national anthem ( which was also stolen by
Germany ): 'God bless Senta Berger-land, we pledge our lives to thee. If I can just get
this caveman suit off, soon I will be free...' ( or something like that )

City names,
I don't know if citynames are spelled wrong for all civilizations, but the Germans have a few:

  1. It's HeidelbErg, not HeidelbUrg
  2. Konigsberg (ö) is not a German city (anymore)
  3. Salzburg is an Austrian city.
  4. Brandenburg is not a city, it's a 'Bundesland' (Province/State)
  5. a lot more, but I couldn't think of it at the moment.
  6. null

  1. You're quite fussy <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>
Forgive Sid some mistakes, for everything else is perfect, you know.
BTW, Salzbourg is Austrian but I think it used to be german once. And as the Germans often steal Austrian things, including their national anthem...

I haven't tried this in a long time, but there used to be a bug in the game that would allow you to use a spy to change enemy city names. You'd use your spy to investigate city and then just click on the rename button.

Sometimes I'd change the enemy names into my civ's names right before I conquered them, but most of the time I'd change them into vulgar slurs. I was really embarassed one time when my father was at my apartment and he saw my game of civ going in which I had changed all the Spainish city names into "bumf***" and "c***s***er" and so on.

Was that bug taken care of in the 242 patch? I hope not, I'm going to try it right now.

What about Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne? Surely there are enough cities and towns in England to fill up the quota!

And for that matter, why are there 2 Australian city names, but only 1 from Canada? Canada has almost double the population of Australia--and bigger cities!

As far as I am concerned all you need to do i open the Rules.Txt and make whatever change you want instead of cribbing about it in th Discussion forums. Hell, that's what I did to the Indian cities and used Caesar3 cities for Roman cities
