City state units - how do I know they're hostile with a glance ?

Been playing this on and off. One Q: when I select my unit it offers me to attack a city state unit even if not at war. Not so with "real" opponent units. While this is ok, how can ID CS unit that really is a threat when at war other than go see in the menu if I really am at war with that CS? On big maps this can be a problem. Any mods / what am I missing?

I don't have an answer for you, but I will say I miss the feature of EUI in Civ 5 that put a red edge around the unit icon of hostile units. It would be very helpful in Civ 6, especially with CSs since all CSs of the same type are the exact same color (i.e. all Religious CSs are White on Black, all Scientific CSs are Blue on Black etc.). If you have two or more of the same type of CSs close to each other, things can get complicated really quickly.

Just another item for what is probably a long list of UI improvements this game needs. I can hardly express how frustrated I am with this game's tendency to hide information from the player.

You can't currently. You would have to check their status in the City-State window to know for certain.

and that should be relatively sufficient.

If you know that a CS is at war with you, then you can check the tooltip to see the owner of the unit and go from there.
This is true, and I often take a quick glance at the CS menu before moving a unit near CS units, particularly unescorted civilians (yeah, I'm irresponsible with that) or antiquated units.

What does remain tedious about this, though, is that all units from city-states of the same type are the same color and appear identical on the map. So if you're at war with Hattusa but Seoul, Geneva, and Stockholm are all in the game, you need to tediously mouse over each light blue unit in the vicinity to make sure that they belong to one of the three CSs that you are friendly with.

You can't, but the CQUI mod recolors their tabs with a red glow to indicate it for you, if you are open to that.
Ah, so CQUI now does for Civ 6 what EUI did for Civ 5. I'll have to check it out. Is it here in the C&C section, on the Steam Workshop, or on some king of Github repository?

Sorry to bring this thread back to life. I was out of Civ6 for a while, now tried and played some R&F. I really miss some of the mods I had before this expansion, tried to find some but I'm a bit confused, some are patched, some are not, some discontinued, some have emerged in other mods, ... This component (to see if any unit is hostile at a glance) seemed to have been addressed by CQUI. AFAIK there is not CQUI version to work with R&F, or am I wrong? Does any other mod address this issue or how can I see rightaway if the unit is hostile? It's sometimes difficult to track who is hostile, especially with City States. IF anyone has this info I'd be eternaly greatfull. :)
