I am at war with Babylon and they come crawling back to me with peace offerings. So of course I take the chance to pump them dry and rebuild up my army. I add their 1 size city into the equation and my advisor tells me I need more. So I add contact with the japenese and they will be insulted by it?! This happens with any thing I add when trying to trade for their city...its like they don't want me to offer more. This is pissing me off because if I add some more on my side I could normally get the city but instead they are insulted! WTH!

Nice town names- Camelot :)

Zouave and I were talking about this in a different thread, so the bug isn't exclusive.

Are people still getting PO'd at this crazy stupid AI? Has Firaxis still not fixed it??

"WTH" should be the new name for the Civ 3 AI.

I have often cut a tech deal good to go. I then offer six FREE resources as a bonus and the AI insults me and cancels the deal.

Why? Sloppy PROGRAMMING. :(

the AI has been banned from trading cities unless for straight (!) peace after Firaxis realized that it was to easy to sell them a city that would surely flip soon. I think that change was made back in patch 1.07 already.

So the AI has been hard-patched into stupidity, because Firaxis didn't take the time to do a new routine for the AI with which it could judge city-trades smarty.

Its insane how the more I add one my side the more he is insulted...

Quit whining. Adding in contact for another civ for a whole city? If you were the comp, would you accept the deal?

I would be insulted. It is a balance change introduced from a patch. No real life civ would trade one of their cities for profit. That just doesn't happen.

I can add all my money, contact with Japan, all my cities, and my tech and they still won't. Thats beside the point though. The first offer the advisor says will doubtfully be accepted but the more I add the more insulted they become. That is the point why would the go from not really to insulted when I offer to give them more? Do they not want all my money and other cities? We are at war so they sure do want my money and other cities.

Yeah, I've had this happen alot! It's more annoying when you at first get the message "we're pretty close to a deal", yet when you try to give them a better deal they are insulted.

It's real bad when they almost accept a deal, then you decide to throw in a ROP, they refuse. But after I end that negotiation, they fork over techs/maps/tons of money for the RoP.

I was justing pointing out my point to Higher Game and I understand your post but I could have sworen I traded for a city and more than straight peace on my side after 1.07

Um, they are not insulted. Your advisor is saying they wouldn't accept such a deal. ever. Which means that they can't. So no matter what you put up there they wouldn't do it. 'Cause they can't.

Then how come if I hit the make offer button again they will say: 'Babylon is insulted by your offer!'?:D

You only have one problem here.

You NEED to beat on them some more :)

True but they keep punching me back[punch] ... I hate those bowman and none of my veterans seem to want to turn elite anymore...must have not had an elite since 10-15 veteran wins and its making me mad:mad:.

The way to do it is take away either the map, the tech, the city, two or all of the above. They won't go for anything else. Especially when they're dealing with cities, they would much more gladly give you a city for nothing then a city for all your stuff.
