City view on custom map

Yup, that sounds right.
Of course, you could have a custom .biq that doesn't include a map, and then you would still be taken to the setup screen, but that's obviously not the case here.

OK, so the new Conquest.biq is in the main file, then when I hit new game, it uses my custom map instead of taking me to the map setup screen. Do I have that right?

Nope, this isn't working. I replaced the conquests.biq with my scenario.biq, but when I start new game it takes me to the map setup screen and it doesn't generate my saved map. I placed all my custom files into the Conquests main file folders, then replaced the conquests.biq with my scenario.biq. When I load a new game the rules appear to have all of my changes, but the map does not load. Am I doing something wrong or is there now way to use your custom map with this technique?

Open the new biq in your Conquests editor: does it load your map? You might have to "import" your map into the new biq.
Yes, the map loads in the editor. It works fine if I leave it in my scenarios folder; it skips the map selection screen and goes straight to the player setup. But when I hit new game off of the .biq in the main folder, it takes me to the map selection screen. I get all my scenario rules but not my map.

Could this have something to do with the PTW and Vanilla .biq files?

Bump to see if anyone has any suggestions, or is this just how it is?

I am not understanding exactly what you are doing but in order to play a Scenario, the Biq and Game Files should be placed in the Scenario Folder. You need to click "CIV-Content" on the Opening Screen then Select the Scenario you want to Play.
...If you are Changing the Main Game Biq, that allows different Game Maps to be generated each time you play a game so would not keep the Same Game Map as a Scenario does.

So, you backed up the conquests.biq file (renamed it, etc) that is in the main Conquests directory, and placed your BIQ file there? ( and renamed your biq to conquests.biq)? And this biq has a map, but when you hit New Game, it does not load the map?

Yes, exactly right. It loads the editted rules but not the map. I was thinking that when you hit new game it always takes you to the map set up screen, whether the .biq has a map or not. I hope I'm wrong about that, though. Unfortunately, Vuldacon seems to be saying that is exactly how it works. Is he correct?

Yeah, I figured as much when my rules showed up without a map. I was kinda hoping it was reverting back to either the PTW .biq or the Vanilla .biq for the map generation menu, and maybe if I altered those .biqs I could get around it. But that was mostly wishful thinking so I wanted to see what the true experts had to say. By the way, experts, love those bios.

Yes, the Main Biq is intended to play New maps, generated each New Game. I have a "Dragon" Game I altered the main Biq to be able to play All Rules" but with Different Maps each Time :)

The reason could be the "map seed" function, that is responsable for generating these different maps every time. The question is what happens, if you enter the mapseed code for your scenario map and start the game with exactly the map sizes from your scenario.

How would I find out what the map seed is for my map?
