I am playing Civilization for the SNES and keep having other civs park their units in my city squares, therefore I can't utilize the resources in that squre. I have a republic and my house won't let me go to war with the bastards and I don't have enough money to pay everyone of them that comes my way to defunct. Any other strategies? Oh yeah, and if I park one of my units in the squares, then they are outside of the city and the city gets mad at me. Thank-you! -J

There's lots of strategies to cover this one. Use your imagination! :) But here are two...

If you have the Pyramids, invoke a REVOLUTION, kill the offending units while your country is in Anarchy, and switch back to Republic straightway.

Prevention is better than cure, so use a bunch of caravans (no maintenance and no unhappiness) as a shield against incoming units. Park them two or three squares out from your city. Recall them if you want help building a wonder.

But your main problem is that you're making peace with these guys in the first place. WHY???? Never make peace and you can kill whomsoever you like. And never agree to meet with an ambassador! Always send them away and then the senate can't force you to make peace or keep the peace.

I always keep peace with everyone so they won't kill my caravans when I want to establish a trade route. However this won't work with mongols and zulus, they are crazy and will kill your caravans anyway. But to go back to your question, do like storm said, go into anarchy and kill them and then you make peace again if you want to (and I always want that), but remember never pay tribute unless you can save a few caravans with paying some tribute, it will pay itself back the next turn!

Thanks for your responses! I was thinking on teh lines of making a bunch of diplomats and parking them in every spot, but that would take time, so the camel thing was on par with what I was thinking about. I ended up going to teh revolution strategy though. One of my cities was surrounded on 3 sides by friendly forces, but I wasn't able to utilize those squrares. I ended up taking out a lot of their units with my two knights that I had. I don't know why I haven't utilized the Kick Some @$$ strategy before.;)
