A few weeks back I read through a thread where somebody had mentioned that they had put Civ1 on a flash drive so they could play it wherever. I have the original 3.5" floppy disks. Just curious how this is possible? I searched for the thread but was unsuccesfull. Thanks.

All I did was copy my civ files to my flash drive. Pretty cool, space saving, and less headaches. I had to toss my 3.5" floppy disks because they could no longer be read. :(

:nuke: Alright thanks....do you also have a dos emulator saved on the drive so it can be played on whatever computer..

did you boot in native dos? if you did that how you managed to bypass the sound problems?

Actually all I did was copy the game from the hard drive. I still have sound problems at random.

I did this a long time ago. All I did was install from the floppies to the hard drive many many years ago. Back then I saved the game directory on CD-R. More recently when I wanted to play again, I just copied the directory from the CD-R to the flash drive. Nice thing about pre-Windows games is that they usually run no matter what drive or directory you put them in (I hate that Windows programs have to be installed the hard way each time, and almost all of them stop working if you copy or move them, and some don't even work if you don't use the default install location even if they ask where you want it installed to).

I do not use a DOS emulator. Windows 95/98/2000/XP all run fine (I turn off sounds...that's the only thing XP won't do right is it only allows the PC speaker and not sound cards).
