This is awesome guys! I was rooting through some old CDs I have and I came across one from PC Gamer, an exclusive, with a bunch of maps and scenerios for games on including Civ 2 !!

I've put up the installer for download and even though it is an excutable file, which may be seen as kinda dodgy (the risk of virus infection this days is ridiculous), I highly recommend you give it a try. Maybe a couple of people with decent virus checkers could give it a go first and just clear up any doubts that anyone may have regarding the legitamacy (spelling is bad, yes) of this.

Anyway, that's not the point.. I've been trying out some of these scenerios/maps and some are awesome! Well worth the download.

There is a PC Gamer reference if anyone is interested in looking it up: PCG55/4/98B - I think this means it's from 1998 :D Gawd, I keep some crap.

Download is at http://twisteh.markblu.net/downloads/Civ2Maps.EXE

Have fun, guys!

P.S. Sorry mods/admins.. didn't think this would suit the scenerio creation board as it's not really a creation of my own.

*continues looking through old CDs.. ack even Civ3 is here*

I agree that it is a treasure trove of early Civ2 scenarios and maps. Amazing how far scenario design has come since those days. There are some interesting maps, ideas and a number somewhat crude (by today's standards) but good unit icons. I have not bothered to compare what scens are in the download with what is available in the scenario download sections at the various Civ2 websites, but I do recognize some familiar titles in the download.

I downloaded, installed and then ran my AVG virus checker. The AVG is good and has saved my computer on several occasions. There appear to be no problems.

I would venture to say that scenario designers at CFC, Poly and SCS would be interested both from a historical perspective and as a source of ideas.

:goodjob:

Interesting collection...

I just checked and I already had all maps, so that's a comforting thought (being a civ2 map collector and all). I might just be missing some of the readme's though, so this can come in handy.

I suspect that it's basically all the civ2 downloads from the former "Ultimate Civilization II Site" (merged into Apolyton). So it should really all be available online in the directory there... But downloading one installer sure beats downloading several hundred different files! (for those of us who hadn't done that already :D)

I second that motion!!!! You can't believe my joy to find those maps! It's saved me hours of trawling through sites for cool maps.

Il est tres beau CIV2. J'dore les scenario de Romanes
