Civ 3 is back in my life, some answers please?!

Greetings, just started to play civ 3, not patched. The font problem ruined my experience previously but i just learnt to live with it. I've tried the 1.29f patch but it doesn't work. If i get hold of the Civ 3 complete or Civ 3 Gold is the font problem cured? Or am forever bound to just live with it?

Check on the bug report. I remember some talk of a font issue, but I never had a problem. I patched each time a new patch came out and they all worked for me. I would expect the Complete to be fine as I have not heard anyone with that issue on that package.

I think the font error is a Vista problem. Look for posts from Darski as to how she fixed that bug. There are also several threads knocking around the forum with various Vista/fonts problems.

If you are going to play CivIII, spend the extra money to get Civ III Complete (C3C). It has all three versions (vanilla, Play The World and Conquests) in one install. Each version is fully patched, so you don't have to worry about that task. The default game is Conquests, but you can play the other versions as well.

Civ III Gold is vanilla and PTW.

The first version of Civ III (vanilla) you can find for about $10; C3C is about $20. It is well worth the extra cost, so treat yourself to C3C. It will keep you busy!

I actually just reinstalled Civ3 complete on vista, and I'm having the same problem. Mind directing me to the post that fixes it?
