:aargh: i waited for civ 4 to be released.i waited for it to be patched because they were incompetent.i've played the game.what a waste of time.i found it to easy,to short-the first time i played i hammered the ai in 5 hours, and severely lacking in gameplay.civ was never about pretty graphics but was about strategy and skill.it seems they've dumbed it down and sold us short.it annoys me because they knew they were garaunte'ed sales.i wonder how many people are actually disappointed.i for one wish i'd spent my cash elsewhere.

I'm with MattJek. I'm happy because I can compete on the third-easiest level which is a new record for me. Try a difficulty that isn't settler.

lol, well he entitled to his opinion, however i freakin' love the game!!! and i tink many others here do! unlucky mate, just try and get refund lol

The only adjustment difficulty are the bonuses the AI get. Even if Noble/prince (think that's the next one) are pretty easy, playing on top level is not an option to me, because it's just stupid watching the AI wandering around with a sizeable army and several settlers when you have 1 city and 1 warrier - that's it. No fun. I can't be bothered fighting someone with crazy production bonuses etc. Solution: improve the AI. Yes, it is possible to improve the AI. More complex AI calculations will of course demand more processor power, but it could at least be an option for those with powerful CPUs.

What difficulty were you on? I'd put a fair bet that it's settler, which is only intended to be for the tutorial. I somehow doubt you've beaten deity and found it easy, so I don't think you can make this complaint. As for being short, were you by any chance playing in "quick" game mode. Most of my games generally last at least 10 hours, and one of the beauties of Civ is that you can start a new game...

Gameplay has generally been improved over Civ 3, and the AI is lot better.

Perhaps you could spend your cash on a Shift key? Makes all those lovely capital letters...

That makes me laugh!!! 50$ for thousand of hours of fun.. and complaining about SPENDING money!!! Go out, drink lotz of beer... and tell me what as give you more for your 50 bucks!!! Not that it isnt fun!!! but hell Video gaming is one of the cheapest way to kill time!!! not the most social way but !!!

Anyway Civ IV is not perfect but its pretty good... no other game has an inch of the "replayability" that Civ does!!! you just need to play a little more... you'll see that its deeper than other civs games... I still think that CIV II was a little better... but my feeling could be wrong... memories always makes it better , or worst depend... but anyway, their is no reasons to complain if your a Civ lover about the IV one!

To original poster.

If the games so bad, what the hell you doing clogging up our boards telling us how bad our game is. If you don't like it, put it away in your draw and close it quietly. Or better yet, change the difficulty! That brick you get with it made of wood pulp and coated in stange ink runes is there for a reason.

Nice one Dairuka! Class

Simply the best $50.00 I've spent this year.

I would say "Katamari Damacy" is up there, but I only paid $19 for it.

I can only win 50% of the time on noble :(

im with you, took me quite a while to get onto prince (winnin most of the time now so goin up difficulty again soon). i think the problem with most people getting bored is the difficulty they play on.

No offense but this seems like a throllpost to me. You didn't say which difficulty level you played the game and which gamelength you were playing it on. Like many people here aready mentioned, this game is no way short and the higher difficulty levels definitely not easy. The only complaint I have is the regular crashing and the A.I. difficulty only set but the bonus it gets. Otherwise, this is a great game!! :D

a game where you are a rolling ball, as exciting as Civ 4 in my opinion.
the game sux! its slow and the ground is black. the end game is unplayable! civ 4 was much cooler, it has better mods too.

So you're saying Civ 4 sucks, and that Civ 4 was much cooler, because it had better mods than Civ 4 does?
