Civ 5 for £9.95 - no longer available

I know someone who occasionally orders DVDs from Zavvi; he has never had any problems.

I have just ordered two copies of Civ V. (From what I have read here, I will need two copies to play MP with my bro, and so the days when four of us could play Civ on LAN MP with one copy ;) come to an end, sigh.)

Would you still need Steam to use this or to authorize it?

What about DRM for this version?

How long has it been up? It is not unheard of for shops to make a typo when pricing an item. I just do not think that a shop can actually sell an highly anticipated game for a mere 10 pounds and still make a profit.

I think thisone will blow up. If not... if the game is still priced like this in a week or two then I will definitely pre-order two copies from here. :goodjob:

uh, do they ship to Hungary?

It appears they ship to everywhere but Russia and Brazil.

I'm waiting for the official word from the 2K reps before I order but this looks like a real bargain.

Big thanks to Greybriar for bringing this to our attention. :)

Do not get your hopes up just yet. Something similar happened to a store pricing Starcraft2 for cheap. It turned out that they canceled the pre-orders and that was that. This seems like something similar.

Maybe the store hopes to use civ5 to get well known with people and to get people talking about that site. Then when the release date is near, they write an e-mail to cancel pre-orders, appologise for the inconvenience and then give you a new - probably a pound or two cheaper then everywhere else - offer and they hope you will still order from them.

That is what I think will happen.

Yeah, it's known as a hook. It gets you in, only to find that the deal no longer exists. Then they attempt to up-sell you. However if its fair dinkum it's an absolute steal.

Greybriar, you have stated you will not be buying Civ5. Why are you checking out prices world-wide. Dont tell me you are going to be a closet Civ5 player after all. LOL.

Civilization V is available for pre-order from zavvi.com for £9.95 and free shipping for UK orders. According to zavvi.com, that's a £30.04 saving from the RRP.

That is the lowest price I have seen for Civ5 yet!

I clicked on your link 10 seconds ago and the price has, unfortunately, changed.
Sid Meier's Civilization V is not priced £39.99

I would like to know if the people that already pre-ordered when the price was 9.99 did get some notification for changed price.

I also wonder if 2K has something to do with this sudden re-alignment of their price with Steam. :)

Greybriar will so become a closet civ5 player... Now way is he strong enough to resist the lure of the dark side. :)

Edit: yay I win!

Now $39.99 . Man that was quick.

Yeah, I expect that those who already preordered will soon recieve email that their preorder was canceled...

Also price isnt 50$ but €48.45 or or £39.99 depending on which currency you select.

Zavvi always seem to have these ridiculous deals, but i've never come to trust them. I think the people who add the price to the website are, how shall I say, butterfingered. They probably missed the 3 off the front.
Pity its over, I would have saved £15 compared to my game pre-order.

I have to admit I was tempted to order Civ5 when I spotted that offer. But I didn't give in to being forced to subscribe to Steam to play a game. But I could not keep myself from letting others know about the tremendous offer. I am first and foremost a PC gamer, and simply had to pass the good news along to my fellow gamers.

Thanks, Ori, for editing the title of this thread to denote the offer is no longer valid. I hope those of you who placed an order while the £9.95 price was in effect will be satisfied.

damn, too late.

well, you that ordered, let us know if you ever got the game. :p
