Tree constructed from what's in the manual.

Here's a second one with the boxes sized for how much research is needed. Different Era's work on different scales.

Excellent decision to represent the cost of each technology by varying the length of the shape :goodjob:

So... how much can you "ignore" of the tree if you only try to rush through the eras? In the older titles you always came to a point, where you had to research this one and only technology to advance further.. this tree looks like you can at least ignore most naval technologies if you just try to advance with militaristic ones... (I know it will take you looong, but it's only a theory!)

Not many Classical techs, are there? I feel sorry for any Civs with unique units in that era, considering it looks like you can breeze through it.

Well, on the Civ IV suggestion forum, a couple of guys posted a PDF (no idea where it is :p) that suggested "paths" of research. I guess the idea is that you can focus on a single trait, or do a broad-front advance. We will see which works better in roughly 3 days, yes?

I'm just curious about this, not for how to win the game, but more to see or create "funny" civs who drive around in panzers while using wooden ships or who use computers while not even understanding gun powder! :D
It's this kind of... "what would be if..." feeling, you know? ;)

Except, I didn't do that.

However! Since it was such a good idea, I did do another one like that. See original post in this thread.
