civ 5 will not load

Hi All

I purchased civ 5 a few hours ago and have been trying in vain to get it to work. I am presented with the option to run with Directx 9 or 11, but regardless of which one I choose nothing happens.

The specs for my laptop are as follows:

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Processor: Intel(R) core(TM) i3-2310M cpu @ 2.10Ghz
RAM: 4.00gb (3.78 usable)


I have tried to update directx but it says I have the latest version available. Does anyone have any advice at all please?
