Civ Air/Naval - it'll never be the same!!

Well I think that with carrying 3 units they're not that useless now.

If they can scout and land on carriers, they will be useful. If they can pick up units in the field, they will be useful. Simply dropping a unit or 3 in the field isn't much; I still don't anticipate building any. My battle lines simply move WAY too fast for a helicopter so limited to be of any use. Once you've got MA and MI, you wipe your enemies up.

Helos COULD be useful in scenarios, such as when the borders are fairly well defended and there is no other way to get anything into the enemy rear. Still, there's just not much benefit in getting units into the enemy rear. They don't block retreat, and destroying stuff just doesn't appeal to me; I want to capture the stuff as intact as possible. If I want to blow stuff up, I'll send battleships, missiles, or aircraft.

If there was a purpose in NOT thoroughly covering the landscape with roads and rails, sending units to block or cut vital lines would help stop reinforcements from coming in to save the main battle line. One thing I did with mods was make roads worth no money; then roads only connected what was needed. Then they go and altered the game so that roads couldn't be built if they were worth nothing, and an elegant and practical solution was forever destroyed!

(Basically, I would like to view roads and rails as the MAJOR transport links. Cities still have plenty of roads and rails not on the main map. Last time you looked at a road atlas for the whole US, did it depict every street, or just the interstates and some major highways? But you still understood the streets were there in the cities.)

I agree with the idea that helicopters sould be able to pick up units from anywere. Also hey could have a movement on their own(like 3-4,and not being used like air units). This is the role of helicopters,to be able to land and take of from anywere,no? And i will say it again, because i see that many of you feel the same! Some ships(or another type, maybe,of a ship)sould be able to carry cruise missiles. This is a fact.

I never read anything that said helicopters could not pick up units. Maybe they will be able to in C3C. As far as cruise missiles on a ship, I always thought the Aegis cruiser should be able to carry cruise missiles. Also modern subs should be able to load and fire off cruise missiles.

even if they can't it will still be handy to be able to drop a few of those new TOW infantry in on enemy resources if the going gets tough and you need a cheap way to stop MA production for a while or something.

Helicopters will rock, especially when you don't have some of the key resources.

Helicopters, Marines, Paratroopers combined assault. Marines does x2 damage when doing a amphibious assault now too :)

Very VERY nice, destroyers with their new movement is finally worth making. No more waiting for battleships to creat a powerful navy. I also hope the Computer A"I" will learn to use their navy more.

Yes and with their increased speed over a battleship, they are indeed more useful. Also don't forget about the new cruisers :)

Um, I notice no one has said anything about the increased OP on aircraft here. Considering that the max used to be 8.

That's actually a good idea, making roads not worth anything! I find it a strain on the eyes, actually, once every tile is covered with railroads, which is usually why i try and end my game before that happens.

this game it looks koo, i might buy it, but since I have galatic civilization I think there i snot other game as good as IA attitude, they REALLY ACT LIKE A HUMAN PLAYER!!!!.

The only think I thin k they miss was and upgrade of the bomber, they should made like a B-52, before the SB, because sounds more logically, do anyone know if we can now MAKE CANALS?? we should be able too , cause I send like a million mails to firaxis

If you mean some kind of worker action to turn a land tile into a canal, I'm fairly sure that's not in conquests.
