So, here is a point I would really like to know ^^
We can see the colour of some civs on some screenshots, but is there a more comprehensive list ?

Particularly, I would like to see if the stupid rose for France has been replaced by the universal blue that represent the country everywhere. But I would also like to see if there was changes compared to before.

So ? ^^

sky blue should be for India, or perhaps saffron. But not that stupid brownish-indigo color.

Red for the British (save Oranje/Orange for the Dutch)
Royal Blue for France, that's just a must. they should do away with Pink, nobody wants his country to be represented by pink (although I have nothing against the colour).
Dark Green for the Arabs. It represents them better than any other colour

and so on and so on... :)
this is really a major bug/thing/etc., Firaxis. FIX IT! (please)

It's not a bug at all. Definitely a thing.

Personally I don't mind it much. It's one of those things you get used to. Seeing pink french and orange british.

Well, totally agree with Mitsho. But I would like to have the ACTUAL colours. So that we can whine to Firaxis if they aren't the colours that SHOULD BE :)

I think Russia is orange based on screenshots.

@Louis XXIC I am not sure, the screen you refering to showed also the unit with the flints we've seen in some screenshots. And this is very similar to the small picture shown besides a city working list. And the screen says that this city is building redcoats which would be English again.
They may be Russians, but they may as well be English, or they may be the Indians which can - for showing purposes - build in that game every unit!

Red (or white) for English
Crimson (or purple) for Romans

Uh-oh, something wrong with my screen. It is rendering Crimson as Pink

The screenshots with the city building Red Coats has no cultural border or flag.

The ones with the flags and orange borders are building Forges, Courthouses, and Cossaks

Purple is the Roman color of royalty (the color the Emperor wore, etc).

Purple actually makes a good deal of sense for them (although I am a bit used to Red).

hmmm... lemmie see if I can come up with a some good colors -

America - Standard Blue
Arabs - Dark Green
Aztecs - Blood Red :)
China - Yellow
Egypt - Tan
England - Good ol'Redcoat Red
France - a deep Blue
Germany - Grey
Greece - ?
Inca - ?
India - Sky Blue
Japan - Red works here too... Perhaps a Cherry Blossom Pinkish-Red?
Mali - Brown
Mongolia - ?
Persia - ?
Rome - Purple
Russia - White
Spain - Gold

damn, that was harder than I thought. So many civs... so few appropriate colors.

I definitely think Romans should be more crimson or purple. Their tunics and cloaks were not bright red.

British red coats wore blood red. This applies to Canada too.

I do not associate Japan with red. Having a splodge of red in a flag should not affect the unique colour of units.

Why do the English have Orange? It is bazaar. It should be a lighter red than Rome, but Rome should be quite dark.

Perhaps there should be two or more tones, and perhaps away-colours ;)
In which case:

Rome: Crimson & Bronze
England: Red & White (red coats wore blue pants though - 3 colours)
America: Blue & Yellow (like Custer)

As far as I can tell, the Civs are indeed close to the colors of their flag...
Then the English would be Pink, and the French would be Purple. This is not the case.

German colours were black, white and green, IIRC.

France HAVE to be in "royal blue".
I mean, "royal blue" is called like that because it was the colour of the French kings, for God sake (as well as the white, yes) !
And even after the fall of the monarchy, "blue" stayed the main french colour (even the french sport teams are called "the blues").

why can't players just choose what flags and colours they want?
