Hey guys,

First of all: Sorry for my bad english, it's not my mother tongue.

I really need your help:
My Civ-Game crashes very often, especially in two cases:

1) I start a new game. The narrator reads the text of the civilization and the sound begins to stutter. In very many cases the game crashes with a soundloop, till I'm back to desktop (failure in module msvcr90.dll).
2) From ancient times to the classical era the game crashes very often when I hit the "next turn" button (failure in module msvcr90.dll).

Windowmode doesn't affect this.

Steam already checked my game files. Everytime I do this, a file with a size of 22,6 MB can't be checked and is redownloaded.
The game has been reinstalled twice - once I manually deleted the remaining files in the steam folder.
My PC is capable of running Civ 5: Intel Core2Quad, 4 Gigs of Ram, GeForce 8800, Windows XP.
I installed the newest drivers and updates for Windows XP.
I reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ Redistrubatable (from which msvcr90.dll is a file afaik).

I really hope you can help me.

Thank you very much in advance!

Greetings,
Skyline

Welcum to the forums:goodjob, I hope that the tongue of your mother is ok

So you have any mods on?

First of all, I used to have a lot of crashes, it turned out that I have the /3Gb switch on and only had 2 gb of RAM (If you don't have that forget what I said).

Mostly could be that the game cannot handle too much things at once..., so on what settings do you play? On big maps or small ones?

I don't play with mods.

You are correct: my Windows XP is using more than 2 Gigs of Ram, but IIRC I did not enable it by myself - it enabled by installing a service pack.
How can I disable it?

I play on small or standard mapsize. :/

How can I disable it?

To disable it: Go to Control panel/System ,from there go to Advanced options tab and choose the Configure tab of Startup and recovery. A new window will open, from there look for the option of manually editing the startup option file, there should open the boot.ini from notepad, from there just look for
"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" or something similar, see if there is a "/3GB", delete it if it's there, don't touch anything else, save and then exit, you should restart your system too see the effects. That solved my problem.

I didn't have any crash after this. Thank you very, very much!:goodjob:

If the crashes return, I'll let you know...
