Civ hangs after patch 1.74

Hey people,
So yesterday I started playing Civ 4. I bought the game way back in 2005 when it was released, I read the manual and after that it took me roughly five years to begin playing. In the mean time I have been playing Civ III and Revolution -- the latter on Xbox 360.

Now today I selected 'look for updates' in the game's advanced section. After downloading and installing patch 1.74 I again went to the game's advanced section to look for any other updates. After clicking the link 'look for updates' the game hangs. And this happens over and over again. It annoys me. What is going on?

Also should I download earlier patches as well?

Is this just Civ 4 or do you have any expansions as well?

1.74 is the final patch for Civ 4, there are no other.

Oh yes the game plays, I am already suffering from the just-one-more-turn addiction that is why I responded so late.

No, I don't have any add ons yet. As far as I can tell the game will hang if I select look for updates. It doesn't happen elsewhere as far as I can tell. Although I have not yet tried an on line campaign.

Its just I am kind of particular about these things -- like this bug -- I want to have it work proper.

Check advanced>about this build. As long as 1.74 is installed it shouldn't matter as there won't be any more patches.

No need to download any earlier patches as 1.4 includes all the previous patches.

See what happens when you try the online campaigns (I never have), it may just be some firewall issues.

We don't usually respond quite so quickly, it often takes days - you were luck to post just before I checked in.
