Civ IV: BTS starts with low graphic settings everytime....

Hey guys,

I just reinstalled all the Civ 4 games on my computer. Every game starts up fine except for BTS. Whenever it starts up I get this message: "You're machine is below reccomended specifications. The graphic settings were altered to accomodate this, however, you may experience performance issues." So basically, the game starts in 1024x768 with all the settings at low. I can change the resolution in game and change the anti-aliasing but the detail settings won't save till the game restarts. After I restart the game the same problem occurs. I never had this issue when it was installed on my WinXP machine. I've already tried running the game as an administrator and in compatibility mode (winxp sp2 and sp3). I have the dxdiag/system info attached. The game is updated with the latest patch as well (3.19).

Your processor is too new for Civ to recognise so it assumes it's below min specs and sets it to low everything. Silly with an i7 but there you go. There is on option in the .ini file that will turn this off and stop it re-setting. Look for Hide Min Spec Warning and change the 0 to 1.

Thanks, that worked.... kind of. Now when I start up I need to change the anti-aliasing to max, recheck the advanced terrain detail and change the sound back to 7.1. I no longer get the min spec warning though.
