A telephone call would be more advisable. Save a trip.

I might do the same around a few stores, may trick a temp/newbie into giving me a copy, then bye bye play.com preorder.

Ditto hear, though I wont be using trickery as I have an inside contact ;) .

Hey, that was my plan for the morning

After checking Sullla's walkthough and the play website to make sure they haven't got some stock in :D

A sneaky look at the woolworths website has the game releasing on the 28th Oct. I shall blazing a path to the door of my local store in the morning, just in case!

Thanks for the info. It's been a long time since Woolworths got any of my business. If its true well its their gain and my local game shops loss.

OK. So , I'll be paying premium for it, but what the hey...

*Crossing fingers*

I will go and check Virgin Megastores - their website still has the old release date.

However, Manchester is the ONLY place in the UK without a Woolworths! Typical!!!

I have called a virgin megastore in Peterborough and they have told me that their systems are showing a release date of 4th Nov and that they won't sell it before this date. Chances are it will be the same at all virgins.

Edit: Price of £34.99

D'oh! :(

Ah well, I'll have to wait until the 4th. Will Play.com deliver it on that day or only dispatch it that day?

Generally play ship when they get stock. if they have stock on Monday, they will ship Monday. This is because they are in the channel islands and it can take up to 5 days to deliver. On my experience though it usually takes 2 or 3 days for delivery. That's why I use them for pre-orders, as usually they get me the game before anyone else can.

Im thinking that too since the language is the same.

Well actually American English and English are slightly different, however that is not the point.

The patches for the European version of Civ3 didn't work on the US version and vice versa, I can't see CivIV been any different.

To save you the trip. I have phoned both Woolworths and Virgin Mega Stores, they both said it was definetly not out to the 4th of November and they will not be able to sell any copies they have before then.

I've just got off the phone from the 2K Games international office in London. They've said that even if UK stores get stock before the 4th Nov, which seems very possible, it will not be released for sale before the 4th.

I've voiced my disgust and frustrations to them, why not do the same and maybe people power may get them to give permission for retailers to sell Civ4 whenever they get their hands it.

Their tel no. is: 0208 834 2009

Aye, Newcastle's Clayton St Woolworths were none the wiser too. Whoever runs the site obviously doesn't have his finger on the pulse. Still, you don't expect Woolies to be first with anything...

Would be so nice to have it this weekend as I have Monday off for another reason. Doesn't look like its going to happen. I shall have to be patient and wait for Play to ship.

I saw this and though OMG, OMG it's time to go down to Woolies and then erm, go home sick.

Looks like I'll still be at work today though :)

Jon

So Woolworths have it? If they say 28th on the web are they not legally7 obliged to sell it?

Unfortunately they're obliged not to sell it until 4th November. However, I have sent an email to Woolworths online asking if I place an order will it ship today. I'll let you know what happens.

Hello...this is my 1st 'post'. Yesterday, my local GAME shop promised I could have a copy 9.00 this morning. (There was no way I could part her with one yesterday!) So (sad old cow that I am) I set me alarm and got to shop for 9.00. ....... Hmmm lots of display boxes, but no actual games anywhere. So I wandered down to their other branch. Same story, then delivery van appears. We open the boxes...no games. Nice lady checks her PC. "Ooh, it's been put back till the 4th" she says. Last hope, follow delivery driver to 1st shop, more boxes, more checking, again the worst news...the
4th November. Oh well, at least I've held the empty box.
