The clown: actually a hell of alot of fun to play with, not that good at civ but makes you laugh so much you end up falling prey to a sneak attack whilst your colapsed in fits of laughter under your computer.
I fit this perfectly, but I also expand on it with some attentive, progressive strategic play. While my potential allies and enemies are going about their own business, declaring war on each other and pillaging the landscape, I'm calculating... Thinking about how I should sweep the continent. Oh, and while I'm doing that, I've finished the Oracle and the Pyramids.
In one MP game, I managed to found every single early religion, build the Oracle and the Parthenon, slaughter my neighbor's raiding forces with some well-placed Longbowmen, and later absorb two of his cities with my overwhelming culture.
You have to admit: Joking around and kicking ass is a hell of a lot of fun.
