civ-specific spies

Does anyone know if there are civ-specific spies also ?

Like Japan having ninjas or something like that ?

Do spies appearance change with the different eras ?

I don't think spies are visible on the map. I think it is like in Civ 5. But I might be wrong.

Yes. There was.

No confirmation either way about unique ethnic models for spy units.

I would love to see spy units, and ethnic models for them, but based on one espionage screenshot I'm afraid it's going to be abstracted like in Civ 5 / Civ BE

All the "civilian" units like workers, great people etc. have different graphics for both early and late era so I bet Spies get modern graphic too.

The problem is I don't think spies are represented as units on the world map. They are just represented by a name in an espionage screen
