Civ V: How to rush build?

I've read that it's possible to use gold to buy units/buildings/wonders, but can't figure out how to do it. What's the trick?

Click on the city, click Purchase in the lower left, click the Unit/Building you want. You can't buy Wonders.

In the city screen there is a buy button. You can only buy a whole building or unit, no more rush build of something that is already partially produced.

Have enough money and in the city screen press "Purchase".

I wonder why the eliminated partial rush buying?

i like the "buy one unit in one turn with gold" (early game). That, and pillaging/capturing city states.

Civ5 needs alot more tactical thinking
